Racism in pattaya!

by lucky_lp

Hi guys, I was just wondering if its true that asian nationals chinese/indians/lankas etc are refused entry into most of the clubs and bars in pattaya?? also you are ignored by most of the ladies if your brown skinned. is this true? as i've not really heard about this kind of thing in bangkok!

Well, if you speak to some of the ladies working the bars there is some "trepidation" or concern when they agree to a "date" with someone from India, Sri Lanka and some other particular places.

It's not necessary a prejudice based on color, perhaps more often based on the fact that when she arrives at the hotel she may find out ONLY THEN that the "date" actually shares a bed with 5 other guys to save money!

Usually this is only a problem with inexperienced employees. With a little experience they first ask a client if he is sharing a place with 4 or 5 other guys!

I usually find that most bars, pubs and nightclubs don't care what color the hand is passing over the money! Of course there are some pubs that more Germans, or more Russians, or more Brits, etc. may make up the majority of customers - that's just the way it works out! I am sure that there are bars in which the majority of customers are from India somewhere in Pattaya - somewhere???

Have fun in Pattaya!

Travel Tips for Pattaya

Great View

by filipdebont

As I was visiting Mike Shopping Mall, along Beach road, I reached the top floor.

On this top floor you find the Food Plaza, with different food stands and the Playland for the kids.

On this top floor you have big windows on the right side, and from these windows you have a great view over the beach of Pattaya.

But as I walked on this top floor I did see that there was a half open door to the outside, so I went out, there was a security agent (who was eating). And I kindly asked him if I could go further on the big roof terrace of the shopping Mall in order to make a picture of this beautiful panorama. And it was no problem at all.

The result can be seen in the attached picture.

Pattaya tuk-tuks.

by colin_bramso

Pattaya's version of the tuk tuk is a pick-up truck (we call then utes in Australia) with a passenger cabin built on the back tray, a bench seat along either side. No fixed routes, they'll take you anywhere, picking up other passengers along the way. Make sure you negotiate the fare before you get in.

No diet today

by filipdebont about Fatties Dinner

This restaurant is kind of specialised in American and English food.

Al kind of fast food like Juicy burgers, jacket potatoes, and for the English: fish and chips.

But they also serve Mexican food and Thai food.

You also can get a full breakfast and several desserts. A big, big juicy burger with chips and a coke.

In here your burger still has a meat taste in stead of a piece of cardboard.

This was my first visit to Thailand and I had to decide between Pattaya and Phuket. I decided for Pattaya due to the proximately to Bangkok airport and didn’t really fancy arriving in Bangkok and after 12 hours from Heathrow getting on another flight. My first reaction to Thailand is that it is ….hot very humid.

Pattaya itself is quite busy with cars and motorbikes rushing in all directions with little regard to the laws of the road. Crossing the street sometimes was a difficult chore and NO I am not an eighty year old with a walking stick.
The city itself has a lot to offer, the Thai’s have a very rich culture and are more than welcoming to visitors. They treat visitors with a smile and are always willing to assist any visitor. I didn’t really see Pattaya been an unsafe city or anything, just take the normal precautions you usually take at home.

The food is quite nice and spicy, but after hearing stories of people with upset stomachs I decided not to eat all in the street so I did stick to eating in restaurants. Most of the time I think I didn’t even know what I was eating!

I wouldn’t recommend Pattaya to families at all. There are too many prostitutes looking for clients in the street and in the bars. It is a pity because Pattaya has a lot to offer.
