Pack light, Pack little, Pack only a bit...
by shelnlin
How much shopping are you wanting to do? Pattaya has a great selection of bags, wallets, handbags all avaliable for the traveller. In fact carry one large backpack and day pack. If you are on a shopping trip you can always get more while you are out and about. Sneakers (trainers), flip flops, Umbrella for the rainy season...but you could get this here as well as your footwear. All pretty well equipped here as above as above Thailand really has it all for the traveller. Many items display all the big names such as Gucci, Louis Vutton, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, just to name a few. The copied stuff is pretty good and their clothes are quite well made. My clothes from my first Thai trip are still hanging my wardrobe and are still looking good. You will see many a male in a checkered shirt hahahha!!! Gets a bit much at times depending on what material the Thai's use to make their clothes that year or session.

Not for the religious or weak at heart. Shirts required unless your dancing on the stage!
Best Burger and Nicest Restaurant in Pattaya
by gaolei about Pattaya Beer Garden
The Pattaya Beer Garden is the creation of Pattaya Pete, who also brought you the Freelancer Bar, now called FLB Bar. The beer garden is on the first pier just at the edge of Walking street. It's original concept was to make a place where you could have a beer, watch some videos and meet a lady working as a freelancer, that is, not associated with any bars. Over the first year, the it morphed into one of the favorite restaurants of everyone who visits.
The Thai food is good, maybe calmed down a little for western tastes. The menu is fairly complete, but if you know Thai food, you can order off the menu. On my last visit, I was thinking about the food options, and decided on the simple cheeseburger. I was surprised at the quality of the meat and the the inclusion of a small amount of Thai spice that gave is an unusual and interesting taste. It came with salad and fried for less than 200 baht.
One of the best things is the location and quality of the facility. You sit at the end of a refurbished and redesigned concrete pier overlooking the water, restaurant boats and Pattaya beach. The view is stunning. My friend was there during the New Years fireworks with his wife's family. They enjoyed the clear view of the festivities while having a good meal and drinks. He made a lot of points with the in-laws!
As a place to stop and have a cold beer, enjoy the excellent video and sound system, and watch the people, you can't beat this place. You can also meet a freelancer if you are so inclined. The Thai food is good, but not spectatular, but the Cheeseburger is! While you are there also have a Beer Lao for me.
Dolphins at Chantaburi
by khunwilko
Its about a 3 hour drive....and there are some pretty good beaches around there.....resorts cater mainly for Thai week-enders so empty in th week and chocco at the w/e.
As with ALL encounters with captive wildlife in Thailand the dolphin attraction is EXTREMELY questionable.
they spend a lot of time telling people how "good" they are for the dolphins, but at the end of the day can't resit the temptation to turn the whole thing into a rather limp circus-type spectacle....you will have to consult your conscience before supporting such places.....believe me they are extremely hard-sell when it comes to claiming sound ecological and animal welfare principles, but it never seems to pan-out that way.
The Bridge over the river Kwai
by GibJoe
This tour was one of my highlights of my holiday. You are collected from your hotel in the early hours, and you head for Bankok. You actually do not stop at Bankok but are taken on the Floating Market tour which is very enjoyable. From here then you are taken to the Second World War cemetaries. After that you are taken to the River Kwai. You spend about an hour in the River Quay and then head for a nature reserve which I did'nt really catch the name. Once in the nature reserve you go on a floating restaurant in which you can have a drink while the floating restaurant moves down the river. You stay the night on a floating house which is only lit by candles as it has no electricity. I must say that it was a bit chilly during the night. The following morning it on to the floating restaurant for breakfast while the restaurant moves up the river. From here you are taken to Hellfire Pass and to the museum, and then head off to Pattaya again, getting to Pattaya around 1800hrs. It is a tour well worth it, as you see quite a bit in just two days and staying in a floating house in the middle of a forest is an unforgetable experience.
