A New Management at Grand Sole Hotel, Pattaya

Those readers who have already read my review about Grand Sole Hotel, may wish to know that some changes have taken place recently due to the new management. These changes may not affect family tourists but certainly will not be to the benefit of single tourists. Each single tourist who wishes to bring guests or companions must pay Bhat three hundreds at the reception. This is, of course, not a good measure to cut costs and will certainly irritate single tourists who wish to have companions. Apparently, this new system applies to those who occupy superior rooms. Furthermore, only one breakfast voucher will be issued which is again very annoying.
The rooms have also been emptied of all furniture except the bed, the wardrobe and the dressing table. In the past you could enjoy the beautiful view from your balcony while sitting at the couch with a cup of coffee; this is not the case anymore. There is an empty space in the room. I don’t know why they have removed these couches from the room.
In general, the hotel still enjoys popularity among the Russian families; however, for single regular male tourists, these changes come as a surprise.

Unique Quality: Good location.

Great Location & Friendly Staff

Grand sole hotel (Sole pronounced as in buffet) occupies a strategic location in Pattaya. I have been visiting Pattaya for the past ten or more years and stayed in many hotels in the South as well as in the North but recently I came to discover this wonderful hotel. It is located on the Second Rd. and within walking distance to most tourist spots in Pattaya. The building is white in color and beautiful so its noticeable to all passersby. Outside the main gate but on the premises itself, you have on your right a small laundry, a Chinese Restaurant and on the road, the well-known supermarket, 7 Eleven. On your left, there is an open air seafood Restaurant with a piano singer, a wonderful place for couples and honeymooners. If you walk on your left for less than five minutes, you will come to the famous Tops supermarket where you can have the best and the cheapest seafood in Pattaya. Further down you will come to Soi 6 & 7, the hub of Pattaya entertainment. Lots of bars and mobile restaurants. If you, however walk to your right from the main gate of the hotel, you will reach AlCazar Show and Sabai Massage Parlor and tens and tens of bars.
Inside the hotel, there is a rather spacious lounge, clean and tidy. At the counter, ask for the wonderful Ms. Pilan, her English is very good and she is very friendly and helpful. Other receptionists are friendly too but difficult to communicate with at the time of emergencies. You may however, wish them by saying “ Swadi Kab” ( “Swadi Ka” for female speakers).
I was given a room on the 7th floor with the wonderful view of the beach. But you may ask for rooms which overlook the swimming pool. The rooms are spacious, clean and bright. Each room has a balcony but the entrance is blocked. However, you can watch the pigeons wooing from the window.
If your room includes breakfast, do not, under any circumstances, miss it. It starts from 7 to 10 o’clock. It covers a variety of international and Thai food and you can sit outside the hall where you can enjoy your breakfast near the swimming pool.
In general, the staff including the security, the bell boys and the reception all were friendly and smiling all the time.
The hotel is good for families, couples, and single travelers. I have also seen some elderly people there.
Having said all of this, there is a small point that you should take heed of: if you intend to go to the North. It’s a one way road and taxis are not allowed to drop you back at the hotel from the same road. You need either to take a motor bike taxi who will drive you through lanes to get you to the hotel or you need to cross to the beach road and take a taxi and get off in the Central Rd. which takes you to the Tops Supermarket and from there you walk to your hotel.
Enjoy your stay in Pattaya.

Unique Quality: There is a swimming pool at the back of the hotel, an open-air restaurant outside the building and parking spaces for your cars or motorbikes.
