ALTARS
by RoyJava
You'll find these altars everywhere, all over the place, in homes as well as in the streets. I knew the custom from the Indonesian island of Hindu Bali and didn't expect the same custom in the Buddhistic Pattaya. Though a lot of religious believes correspond with eachother.
Doing good will bring good stuff as a reward and will benefit you. Keep friends with the bad spirits, too, so donot forget to honour these spirits. Even in the Go-go bars you may find these altars, sometimes beautifully adorned with colourful flowers, details etc. These altars are placed in the highest possible place and, never on the floor. Often so unexpected ...
Flying Thai
by filipdebont
Usually I fly Thai Airways when I go to Thailand. But Thai works together with Lufthansa, so sometimes you book a Thai flight and you go on a Lufthansa flight, of course that does not matter. As Lufthansa is also a good Airline. And they are both member of the Star Alliance group, so no problems to get the flight miles on my frequent flyer card.
So I usually fly via Frankfurt (40 min flight from Brussels), and then directly to Bangkok (flight time 10h30) (on the way back it is11h30).
And then you arrive in Bangkok in the early morning, as there is a time difference of 6 hours (5 hours during summer time).
Like On A Cruise!
by RoyJava about Lobster Pot
This is "Appetites Ahoy!" in Pattaya. It is said "Seaside views provide the backdrop, while the crowds provide the references" of this seafood restaurant. Very true, entering the Lobster Pot and taking place on the terrace with sea-view and sunset. Choose what you want from the aquarium, it will be fresh prepared and served for you. You'll feel like on a cruise ... right on the place to pig out on Thailand's manifold fruits de mer. We had a seafood dish which was really delicious. See the shrimps, king and tiger prawns, special scallops, mussels and the fish, we name "snapper" I donot know another name for it. Different sauces to add the sea wonders. Isn't the yellow perfumed rice like a little treasure? The plate was 1400 TBT for 2 persons ... not that cheap, though tip top, very good!

Pattaya!
by marlonpasilon
"2nd"
I first visited Pattaya in 2004 with my friend Belinda. My impression was that it was an expanded version of Patpong in Bangkok. Girls galore with old white men in almost every street in Central Pattaya. When my sister suggested last January to have a family trip to Thailand, I suggested that we stay for 3 days in Pattaya, since it would be my third time in Bangkok.
4 years after, I was back in Pattaya and everything stayed the same. Girls galore with old white men everywhere. The beach somewhat deteriorated, and sand got a bit darker. Belinda and I thought that Jomtien Beach was nice (although still not comparable to beaches in Phuket), but Central Pattaya beach was definitely forgettable. My family did not even attempt to step into the sand, hehe.
