Re: Pattaya Streets

I do not know the law, but many people drink beer on the beach without being arrested.

The people that rent out deck chairs on the beach actually sell it.
Never seen any drink driving laws either.
There does not appear to be any law as to where you can and can not drink your beer.
You can buy it from any corner 7/11 store, So you dont have to go into a bar if you do not wish to.

Sawadikrup, its perfectly legal to drink beer while walking along the streets or while you are by the beach.

What may not be legal is going on a rampage & endangering life & limb, as a result of overindulging in the quantity & quality of beer.

Cheers, or rather Skol !! :)

Go on, enjoy some nice cold Singha or Chang beer, you know you want to :)

Oh, this is nice news. I was afraid for it when I was in Pattaya last time.

Travel Tips for Pattaya

Golden Queen & Motherday

by RoyJava

Thailand is a monarchy and the Royal Family is deeply loved and respected. So visitors should also be respectful. Avoid disparaging remarks about anyone in the Royal Family, don't speak ill of its members even in jest!

We happen to celebrate the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, also named the Golden Queen. Government offices as well public and privat schools are closed during this very important date (August 12, 2006). The beautiful Queen is also considered by all Thais as their mother. Mother's Day used to be celebrated on April 15, but the government decided to move it to August 12 in 1976. Because of the so beloved Golden Queen.

Walking Down The Street

by RoyJava about Butterflie Catch

Going for a walk in the Walking Street? Ah,... in that case, don't mind the Go-Go spots glowing red, and thunderous basslines call night owls to happy hour at a menagerie of dance clubs, strip pubs and go-go bars. A bunch of girls, ladies and girl-like boys invite you for a nice time and some romance ... still there is a lot to see ... in a romantic way, too.

Romance? Well, some Western tourists come to the fame of Pattaya's butterflies, who try to catch the generosity of the Westerns. And listen to the stories after when they try to make impressions about their Butterflie Catch ... isn't that romance? This is holiday, this is about street activities until late at night. Where the whole family goes out ...

Yummy Seafood

by volarevolare about King Restaurant on Walking Street

Next to the Lobster Pot, this restaurant is non-airconditioned and features seats under the cover of an awning as well as seats alfresco next to the sea.

We had our dinner there upon recommendation from a local girl who was actually a waitress promoting an Italian restaurant. She told us that it's quite famous. We had:

Blood Clams
Grilled Lobster with butter and garlic
Fried Crabs cooked with Curry
Sweet and Sour Fried Fish
Fried rice with shrimp

All very yummy! :)

Tiffany's Show

by volarevolare

An interesting cabaret extravangaza show that's mainly made up of musical song and dance numbers by transvestites.

Looking at them, it's really difficult to tell that they're not real women -- some of them are really amazingly pretty!

The show lasts for 1.5 hours during which they perform an internationally varied show that includes many costume changes. These costumes are really colourful and eye-catching.

My favourite performance is the one themed "Remember Our Own" which has a Thai flavour where the girls dress up in Thai traditional costumes.

For an interesting and entertaining night out, this is the show to watch.

For VIP seating, it costs about 500 Baht. We got great seats, fourth row from the front at the aisle. But I forgot to bring along the digicam and so, missed out on taking some of the most beautiful shows.

The show times are at 6pm, 7.30pm and 9pm.

PG rating -- might not be suitable for small kids age 12 and younger.

PATTAYA BEACH

by RoyJava

Pattaya's climate is tropical and warm all year round. From March to June it can be very hot, from July to September the temperature ranges from 32 to 38 degrees and it's cool from November to February. Monsoon winds are sometimes accompanied by rain, and sometimes a typhon may hit Pattaya Beach.

At JomTien Beach we experienced a part of a Vietnam-typhon. And Pattaya Beach wasn't that better, hahaha. Nope, a heavy rain comes... and goes! Like here along Pattaya Beach which refreshed the air in a very pleasant way! Bravo for Lady Rain.
