March trip

by Corbama

Hi,
I am thinking of visiting PAtaya in MArch for like 5 days.
How is the weather during that time? How long would it take?
How do you get to Pataya from BKK cheaply?
Is Pataya different since the Tsunami in terms of beaches resport, night clubs etc.?
Do you recommed going straight from the airport?

March is still in the dry season so the weather should be pretty hot with little rainfall. The tsunami did not hit Pattaya and please note that the areas in Thailand where it hit have now full recovered from the disaster - most things were back to normal within a few months. The new airport (BKK) is closer to Pattaya than the old one, it should take about 90 minutes from the airport to Pattaya so going straight from the airport is worth considering rather than going in Bangkok and back out again.

John

As said above tsunami was the other side of Thailand - there has been some redistribution of tourists who are worried by a recurrence but that is now pretty insignificant. The reconstruction on the west coast has been rather unsympathetic and many poorer locals have lost their homes as a result of big business coming in and claiming their land.

Pattaya is about 1.5 to 2 hrs from the airport. There is a good but not 24 hour direct bus service. Alternatives are a minibus or taxi. The Taxi is most convenient especially is you have luggage (no waiting at North Pattaya bus station for a taxi etc).
Taxi fares start at around 1300 baht. Agree the price before you start off and find out if that includes about 130baht for motorway tolls. DO NOT let a tout get you a taxi in arrivals....go downstairs and get one from the many desks and kiosks there.

Thanks
But what if I want to spend couple of days in BKK then go to Pataya? How long does it take and cost from BKK? Where do you fo in BKK to catch a bus to PAtaya?

Re: March trip

That will only add about an hour or hour and a half to your trip to Pattaya. This is a site that will answer the question about the buses http://www.pattaya.com/pattayainfo/go/index.htm.

From Bangkok, if you are staying in an area near the Skytrain, you can take a bus from the Ekamai bus station. The Ekamai bus station is right off a Skytrain stop!

Price for the ride to Pattaya is around 120 baht, ride will take 1.5 hours to around 2 hours depending on traffic. Buy your ticket from the Pattaya window only, take the VIP AirCon bus (toilet on board.) There is a slower Pattaya bus that you want to avoid or you will be seeing the highway for an extra 2 or 3 hours and no toilet!

Travel Tips for Pattaya

Very regal, Very Queenlike, Oh so glam....

by shelnlin

When you come to my Homepage you will see a picture of me all dressed up and looking rather regal. I have some really great feedback about those photos that I thought I would share with you where I had the photographs taken.

The company is a designed for people who want to have an extra special lot of photographs taken and it isn't just for the Ladies, Men too can have their photos taken as well.

Perfect Portrait Studio is located at the Royal Garden Plaza and it is a great and affordable place to have a great session being made up and to put on a fancy dress and accessories. Customers can choose their own outfit or bring one of their own (no this one was theirs) or they can even dress up Thai style if they like.

Although the Photographer speaks no English (same goes for the Makeup artist), I managed to pose and move for the photos just as if I was a real beauty queen with lots of mmm's and yeeeeeessssss when I had to tilt my head or smile.

My cost for my photography session was 1200 baht which included 3 A4 sized photographs and 4 little ones of my own choice. and then I paid an extra 700 baht to have the photos put onto disc.

The beautiful thing about having these photographs taken was I was able to see them after they were shot and before the photographer may have needed to 'air brush' them for a more 'glam' look.

You can also choose fish, squid, shell fish ,steak or ribs for half the price of any restaurant in town. There are tables if you want to eat there with a cold beer or take away..Tops!. Big shrimps from the tank very fresh. Not expensive

Beauty of men at Alcazar

by peemapat

The cabaret show that most well known in Pattaya is Alcazar. Here you can not imagine that the very beatiful people on the stage are men.
There are 3 times show per day. Check with the travel agent or your hotel front staff.

Pattaya City...

by kenningst

"Different stroke for different folks"

Personally I find that Pattaya has really not much to offer compare to her other counterparts. If you are looking for a beach, the beach here is almost non-existence and its all dirty and smelly and non compareablet o Krabi. If you are looking for shopping, it definately cannot beat Bangkok and needless to say their nightlife.

I find the whole city more or less catered to old anglo-saxon folks who have nothing much better to do than to sit around with a beer passing time but do not like the hustle and bustle of the other tourist spots and cities.

I persoanally recommend you to stay away from this place because I regreted coming here but as I have said, different stroke for different folks...
