by thekeys

I have looked at the possability of stopping at this hotel this december. Has anyone been there and what do you think of this hotel. Is it guest friendly or is there a charge if you bring a guest back to the hotel . it is very decent price. Theprice includes Breakfast(£12 in english money)

Sawadee is a group of 5 hotels in Pattaya, most are of the mid 90's, i stay in Sawadee seaview some years ago, not bad, Sawadee hotel is on soi Diana Inn, a good location, near everything it have a pool on the opening, today only Sawadee Siam offer a pool. At 730 bahts with breakfast in December it's a good price, Ice Inn, on second road is about same price, High Five, also second room is about 800 baht in december, pool on the roof.No joiner for those hotels.

I think it is guest friendly but I have never stayed there, usually the cheap hotels under 1000 baht are guest friendly. You could book a couple days and look for a different place if you want unless you are there around Christmas/New Years Eve when most of the rooms everywhere fill up. (In a normal year that is, tourism is still off from last year.)

On Soi Honey Inn you have a whole bunch of cheap hotels, all with air and private toilets. Soi Buakhaw has lots of places that are under 1000 baht too. Breakfast is pretty cheap in lots of places. Even all you can eat buffets from the Apex Hotel and the Lek Hotel are only 110 baht.

Good luck.

Not a good choice. Sawadee hotels are well past there use by dates. these hotels have ben around for years and all very run down, dirty and unkemp, all in need of refurbishment, and a darned good clean.
You can do better for the price.
Here are a couple that come to mind if you are looking for a budget hotel.

The sawadee hotel on soi Bauhkow is mostly catering for Chinese tour travellers these days as you see their coaches there all the time.
This place now has few western tourists stay there because of the Many Chinese that they only seem to care about and their prices went up a while ago because of this also.
It is in a great little area and so much going on around there now and easy to get to anywhere at all so maybe choose one of the many well equipped guest house in this area as they truly compete with these hotels, they dont have a pool sure but you can use the big hotel pools in this area for a small fee.

Travel Tips for Pattaya

SANUK & WISHFUL THINKING

by RoyJava

What is pleasing you the most? Is it really the SUN~SAND~SEA~SEX effect? Coming to Thailand is entering paradise on earth. Exploring the country you soon will find out how, why, where. Make your wish and the spirit will open the box. I've seen it over and over again ... Always thinking about the "wishful thinking"... isn't that funny? Especially in Thailand that is a Buddhist country where you can buy anything! Where you can eat anything! And where you do anything! As long as it is fun, enjoyable and gives pleasure ... only Thai people do have a special word for it:
S A N U K !!!

Walking Street

by trevndebs about Stoneys Bar

Great place to people watch in Walking Street.
Stoney is an Aussie but despite that is a great guy, and usually in attendance.

They have the obligatory TV for Sports events, music that still lets you have a conversation without shouting.

Staff are attentive and welcome you with a really nice cold towel and are happy to leave you alone for as long as you want to sit there.

Best of all, they sell Strongbow ( 120 Baht per bottle ) Usual for Pattaya, anything goes.

An englishmen's home from home

by jetwind about Pig and whistle

Located close to the Sunbeam hotel, this bar is a home from home for any Englishman. Here you can enjoy English cuisine like Traditional Sunday roast of Beef and Yorkshire pudding all washed down with a pint of real English beer served in a pint pot.
You can be forgiven for thinking you’re back in Britain! If you've never tried our country's signature dish "Fish 'n' Chips" or if your English and would like a taste of home, then try the battered fish and deep fried chips. Add a squeeze of lemon and some tarta sauce on the side and enjoy.

Water Sports!!

We had alot of fun at this beach :) We rented 30min JetSki for 500baht (per person) , Banana boat 30min for 1200baht ( shared by 4 person).

The JetSki is terrific depending on how you control it. If you dare to go at full speed, i would said its Terrific. But for my friends who try it for the first time, they were going slow...so it really depends on how you ride it :) hehe

The Banana boat suppose to last us for 30min but the boat man would delay here and there and drive us back to the shore early. The main fun in playing Banana boat is like challenging the boat man, he will try to make us capsized and we would used our balancing skills to control it :)

Phra Yai Temple

by YaaDong

Big Buddha is situated on top of Khao Pattaya. To reach the sitting buddha you have to go up 99 steps (young girls were counting them) ..Around the Buddha you have a number of Buddha images representing each day of the week.So if you were born on a Friday you will pay respect to that Buddha image. The view of Pattaya city is not so good from here.
