Transportation from Sheraton Pattaya Resort

by windy88

This resort is isolated from the rest of Pattaya. The only choices we see are taxis, which can be quite expensive for three people staying for 3 nights. They are asking for 150 baht. Is there any other way that would be cheaper? Please help!!! Thank you very much.

The Baht buses travel this road. It is easy to go toward South Pattaya Road. Just walk out in the main north south road near the hotel and you will see them driving by. Just put your hand up and they will stop.

Going back is a little harder. The baht buses line up at the South side of the second road, South Pattaya road junction. They take several roads back toward Jomtien so you have to find which bus is going in your direction. Bring a hotel card, or matchbook cover, and ask if this bus goes back toward where you are going. They will try to get 100 bt. from you, but it is just 10 to get back.

See my tip on how to ride a Baht Bus. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/1e4db/161f12/9/

Is that 150 baht for the three of you? That's 50 baht each, around $1.50 US. If it is per person still only around $4. The taxi trucks know you are in an expensive hotel so they charge more. When you can get a hotel room in Pattaya for around $10 US that has air and private toilet your place being $120-$130 a night is also known to the taxi drivers!

If the price is 150 each perhaps a motor cycle taxi would be a little cheaper. Does the hotel provide any free transportation. I can't remember being anywhere near this hotel, I know that some other hotels in that area have baht buses lining up to provide rides. Paying more for you hotel and being in a remote area means you pay more for your rides.

The baht bus ride from Pattaya to Jomtien is only 20 baht but you have to find away to get to your hotel from where you get off. This 20 baht, baht bus is located near where Pattaya Sai Song and South Pattaya Road meet, not far from where Walking Street begins.

Good luck.

If you like to walk it's about 15 minutes to Walking street, just take the stair to the harbour and then straight on.

Travel Tips for Pattaya

SONGKRAN Festival

by Travel2write

The Songkran festival, which marks the start of the Thai traditional New Year, is also known as the water festival which is believed to wash away bad luck. The festival takes place several differnt times throughout the country, and will make you feel like your 10 yrs old again enjoying a waterfight with your friends. Although I wasn't prepared for what was ahead of us, it was by far the most enjoyable time I have had in Thailand!

Nightlife.... Well err... it's famous in Pattaya!

by shelnlin

Pattaya is known for it's nightlife... once upon a time not so long ago Pattaya was just a little seaside community and then before you knew it, people were flocking to Pattaya.

There are bars on bars in this place. In fact at nightime, the traveller is spoilt for choice on where he or she wants to go. Pattaya is known for it's prostitution and unfortunately many a man has fallen in love with a Thai lady seducing him with all her charms. I like the Thai people but it is sad how some of the woman have to go into a trade such as this. They are often supporting families, children, husbands, mothers, fathers, grandparents... The wages are very low in Thailand so to any Thai bar girl a farang (foreign) man is certainly worth getting to know. Some men end up having relationships with these girls only for a night, a week, a month or even keep in touch with girls long after they leave Thailand. Some come back hoping to see their girls again only to find out that their girl has got a new man, sometimes you hear of marriages and some girls go off and join their new husbands in a new life to somewhere far off away from their families. This is the reality and it is sad. A good book to read all about it "Hello my big big Honey" which gives the reader a candid look at life from a prostitutes point of view through letters to her man and letters from the men to the girls. The dress code for westerners is generally pretty casual, however the Bar girls will dress up if you are taking them out in little bitty teeny weeny outfits complete with high heels. They may look cute to some in Thailand but outside to the rest of the world maybe a bit tardy, a bit too much and maybe a bit too overdone.

Supersize

by Pneuma about Hard Rock Cafe

It had a great location and a lovely ambience inside.Very touristy place.I had great time definately recommend this place. I have the nachos with cheese my friend ordered the veggie sandwhich ...Both were excellent but the portion size was too much. Also, try the freshly made orange juice i dunno how many of those babies i downed.

Beaching around

by airasia

My visit to pattaya was only for a couple of hours only. I figure the next time I would actually stay here for a least 2 nights. From the word around night life is rather happening here. The beach is not advisable for a swim but a deep or two won't do any harm. Nearby beaches or dive spots such as koh lan, koh krok, koh phai are worth check out if you have time. Such trips can be arrange by the hotels.
The town is filled with many restaurants, pubs, shopping outlets and a hypermarket as well.

To do a quick visit round the town - get hold of a motorbike 'taxi'.

Crocodile Farm

by GibJoe

Its called the Million Years Stone Park & Pattaya Crocodile Farm, but to be honest stones don't really excite me so the crocodiles are what I went for! There is a show where Thais wrestle with crocodiles and even put their heads inside their mouths! You can also for a small fee feed the crocodiles with meat tied to a string, it is an experience seeing them jumping for their food.
