Jesus George,

at that rate you can't go wrong! I wish I could afford to go to the Mercure! Don't worry, it will be fine. In fact, if you want me to pick you up from the airport and take you wherever I will be happy to. Just take care of my expenses (gas, food, lodging cheaper than yours, beer - the biggest expense, and maybe a few dates-women only) and I will show you the time of your life. Really!
Other than that, you will be fine. I have never stayed in the Mercure but it is a reputable chain here in Thailand. I live right across the street from the Grand Mercure Park Avenue here in Bangkok. It is part of the Accor Group and used to be called the Novotel.

If this is the same George that is going to Samui you may want to find someone you enjoy being with in Pattaya and make a deal to take her to Samui. Most ladies would love to go.

Wow, you are coming for a great vacation. Let me know what else I can do to help. I envy you, I've lived and worked here for almost 6 years now and nothing is a good as coming here on vacation. Enjoy!

Travel Tips for Pattaya

Beautiful Creatures

by RoyJava

Most tourists rush for the beach during high-season as soon breakfast has finished. You also could go for a walk in the Walking Street. Let's be surprised by the appearance of a beautiful kathoey, all in red, waist-splitted dress, extremely high-heeled shoes and a well-done make-up. In other countries the looks of the night-butterflies get worse after midnight and, the earlier in the morning, ... oh la la ...
Well, ... not in Pattaya, Thailand!

Small but good

by filipdebont about Velana Restaurant

This restaurant is also a bit of the touristy paths.
I discovered when I visited the Sousiree Massage institute by blind masseurs.

I looked good from the outside and it even tasted better from the inside.

They are serving all kind of dishes, from American Breakfast (65 Baht), Fried Rice with pork or chicken (35 Baht), Fried Noodles (35 Baht and of course Tom Yam, the spicy soup (50 Baht).

Coffee and tea: 15 baht Fried noodles with shrimps

Snake Show

by GibJoe

Think we paid about 200 baht (£2.85) to go in, and we must have spent less than an hour in there, and that was watching the snake show. The place is quite dirty with rubbish everywhere and the animals are not well looked after. The show is done by three men, who could also have more presentable clothes to put a show on, or at least some clothes that had been washed in the last month. The show consisted of swirling the snakes around, putting them around their necks and in their mouths. Not really my kind of entertainment. Apart from the snakes they also have an elephant and a bear, both of them chained in a very small area for them. I don’t think that this place is worth a visit and anyone visiting Pattaya should give the snake show a miss.

by SLLiew

Pattaya which is 165km in the southeast of Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand, is the closest and popular tourist beach destination for visitors to Thailand.

There is a range of available accommodation, beach activities, shopping and night entertainment for international tourists and local family vacationers.

You will not be bored in Pattaya.
