bangkok to pattaya

by rainz11in

whats the best way to get from suvarnabhumi airport to ekamai terminal as i want to take an a/c coach tp pattaya early morning (about 5.00am)- the buses from the airport seem expensive (comparitively)

Take the free shuttle bus to the transportation center bus station. The shuttle will take around 5-8 minutes. At the airport bus station check to see if when the direct Bangkok to Pattaya bus leaves, the price will probably be around 120 baht or less. There are new Bangkok - Pattaya bus runs added every now and then, my old schedule sees the runs several hours apart.

If the wait for a direct BKK to Pattaya bus is too long you can take the 35 baht City Bus to Sukhumvit Road (bus 552) and get off at the "On Nut" (sometimes spelled "Oh Nut") Skytrain stop. The City Bus will take from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to get to the Skytrain stop because of construction on Sukhumvit Road. This On Nut Skytrain stop is near a Lotus Tesco store, take the Skytrain to Ekamai bus station, I forget, maybe 3 stops and around 25 - 35 baht.

At the Ekamai bus station you want the VIP Pattaya bus, ticket window on the right side of building. Bus runs around every half hour and the price will be around 120 baht, give or take a few baht. Ticket price depends on cost of fuel oil for that day but the bus ride is pretty cheap. Around 2 or 3 hours (depends on traffic) for the ride to Pattaya and there is a toilet on board the bus.

If you check this forum or do a Google search you may find something on Bell Transportation that has direct runs to Pattaya from the terminal - run times are far apart.

Go to Level 1 ( in Suvarnabhumi airport ) you will find queue for taxi meter and you have to pay 50 baht more for extra charge.

Bus from Airport to Pattaya is between 100 to 200 baht but I don't think there is one quite that early. It is a new service with smart-looking buses so it might be worth waiting for an hour or so.
Taxi is by far the most convenient and costs about 1300 baht - share with a friend or meet someone on the plane.
Minibus is about 200 to 300 per head.
Suvarnibhumi is about 30 min closer to Pattaya, going backwards into Bkk seems a waste of time really, when you take into account all the little extras you need - Connecting taxis/tuk-tuk to hotels and bus stations plus extra time - and fiddling around with luggage.

Take metered taxi to bus station. it is a lot less of a hassle and is not very expensive. At bus station, try and make sure you buy ticket from a ticket window. the government bus is probably the best way to go. It was 120 baht the last time I went (March,16th 2007) Have fun!!!

Travel Tips for Pattaya

Save your shopping for Bangkok!

by volarevolare

There are tons of small shops along Pattaya Beach Road and along Pattaya 2 Road.

But nothing of interest really. The same stuff that you'd probably find anywhere else in Thailand.

So if Pattaya's a stop-over, you might want to save on the weight and space in your luggage for shopping later back in Bangkok -- where I think the best bargains are to be found at their weekend markets or night bazaars. They do have a night bazaar but it's only open on the weekends.

Boating In Pattaya 2

by machomikemd

Now you can also rent bigger boats with roof cover but is will cost you twice the rate at 3,000 baht for half day and 5,000 baht for whole day. this kind of boats are for larger groups of people (about 20 or more as to divide the payments and make it cheaper). Again like what I've said, you can rent equipment and tour in and around pattaya, koh larn and rayong with this bigger boats. But be warned, facilities are not outstanding (remember, you get what you pay for!)

Great Steak - Great Salad bar

by filipdebont about Sizzler

No need to present Sizzler, as it is well known, as a great chain of restaurants.

I still remember that I did eat several times in a Sizzler restaurant during my trip through the West of the United States.

At Sizzler you always have a great Salad bar with a big variety on fresh vegetables.

They also have delicious steaks and seafood. A mixed grill plate, with steak, lamb, porc and chicken. (450 Baht)

Banana Boat

by voodo0

The Banana Boat is powered by being pulled with a rope behind a jet ski. You are at the mercy of the guy driving the jet ski and these guy are mean. They get you going behind the jet ski then they will make a sharp turn and the banana boat turns over with every one on it going in all directions. Me and my frens went on one. It was really fun and bouncy. Our boat turned over 4-5 times.

It cost 350 Baht per person. Each boat can accomodate up to 6 person. But if it's too heavy, they might reduce it into 4 person per boat.

Pattaya City of Fun

by pienkcat

"Pattaya - A second class beach"...that what I was told before my departure to this Siam kingdom, but surprisingly the first class nite life city!

2 hours drive from Bangkok will bring you to a superb entertainment city by the beach, a transmission of a small fishing village thru out the years.

Most of pattaya tourist attraction located along Pattaya Beach Road. Along the road you can shop till you drop and bargain as lowest as you can and rock you bottom till early morning at any of thousand clubs and discos at every corner of the streets especially the walking Street.

"A beach holiday?"

Looking at the beach make me so sad. The beach is so poor and dirty. Why? because I love beach holiday. But that what I expected earlier on and always prepare for it and it had turned me up to had a a shopping holiday instead :-)

About 20 minutes speed boat ride is a Coral Island (Koh Lan). This island is great! white sandy beaches and crystal clear water. i had to admit that...
Many locals set up their beach chairs with umbrella for rental THB20 for the whole day. Many shops queing along the beach side selling clothes, handycrafts, handbags, T-shirt and many more! and there also have few restaurants mostly serve local Thai food and fresh & delicious juicy crab, prawn, lobster and yummy..yummmy..yummy...

But, again I am afraid the Coral Island sooner or later will also turn into Pattaya Beach. Too many water activities and pretty noisy with boats going and coming, jet ski and etc and crowded with people starting from early morning untill lunch time :-(

"Getting to know Pattaya"

Another things about Pattaya..Most of Thai people coudn't speak English..this is really like chicken and duck talking. Hard to do the shopping actually but it does not the point. The worst is asking the directions and places of interest, using the public transportation even the 4 stars hotel reception...oh god! it was terrible.

Thai loves to eat. they eat everywhere they can, and ladies love to make up and make themselves beautiful. U can see these when u enter any of shopping malls or road shops in the morning. Most of the malls open at 11am.
