Which Hotel

by nicobe

Hi, My husband and I willbe in Bankok for 3 nights in middle of October. We would like to be in Sukhumvit area and we wondered if anyone had stayed at the ROYAL ASIA LODGE in Soi 8 or the SWISS PARK HOTEL Soi 11 recently. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks Suzy

Re: Which Hotel

by Dabchick

I stayed at the Swiss Park in May this year it was ok, quiet hotel, tucked up a side soi (taxi driver couldn't find it) I was ill at breakfast (not the hotel food ) and the chef contacted the house doctor and got me some tablets which I thought was very kind of him, i would stay there again.

Re: Which Hotel

by SirHalberd

Swiss Park is off Sukhumvit Soi 11 and a side soi Sukhumvit Soi 11/1. I stay in this area often, but in a cheaper hotel (President Inn or "Old" Business Inn.)

Good location for street vendors, restaurants, travel agents, bars and really close to the Nana Skytrain stop.

Also look at the Grand Business Inn (off Sukhumvit Soi 11.) A cheaper hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 11/1 is the Bangkok Inn (tourists not allowed to bring in boyfriends or girlfriends.)

Good luck.

Travel Tips for Pattaya

Wat Sam Sian

by STRATOS79

Mini-buses -- Modified Pick-Up Trucks

by volarevolare

Very much like a larger Tuk-Tuk, these mini buses are a cheap way to travel up and down Pattaya Beach.

These mini-buses will stop anywhere along the road, and would usually beep at pedestrains walking down the road to signal if they want a ride.

Just tell the driver where you're going and ask for the price.

You can negotiate.

We took a mini-bus back to our hotel and paid 150 Baht. Our hotel was quite a distance from the Central Pattaya area actually.

Bring you clubs! Golfing in...

by Travel2write

Bring you clubs! Golfing in Thailand is some of the most affordable in the world. And due to perfect weather for the grass, the courses a awesome!
Golf courses around Pattaya are abundant and easy to get tee times. In fact I was offered to go more than my heart could take. The heat can swallow you up, and I recommend not beer while playing.

Pattaya Pattaya!

"Sun,,,, Sea & ....."

Pattaya is located 147 km from Bangkok .Only about two hours by car or air-con bus so it is a perfect quick escape from hectic Bangkok to get some sun ,sea ,and add some spice to life.
I have visited Pattaya many times. My first trip to this place was when I was seven. That was the first time I saw the sea and I didn't see too many buildings just wooden houses ,trees and lots of jelly fish on the beach.
Now Pattaya city has become one of the more Western places in Thailand and many tourist both Western and Thai flock here for abit of R & R .It has something for everyone but it doesn't have a great reputation because of all the bars and open prostitution.Quoting my sister's words "it's disgusting".However many people both singles ,families as well as me still flock here.
During the day it is sleepy and uncrowed because Pattaya is a city of night and most people are still recovering from the night before. There are endless bars ,clubs ,hotels, restaurant and shopping plazas. Some people may find the ' entertainment' especially the South Pattaya area a little too much because of all the in your face beer bars and open invitations. However, these places can be easily avoided if you want to.If you don't want to then just party on...
