Nothing is provided but a netbed and two trees. It's natural, but you must be careful not to be fallen on the ground. :) Leave a Comment

We had to stay in this hotel in order to get good airfare through Air France. I would definitely recommend staying in the guesthouses rather than here. It was a decent enough hotel. Our room was big and clean. There was an elevator. I guess I'm just not a fan of big, imposing mass tourism places. The reception staff didn't speak English very well, and the guy who checked us in was kinda rude. We stayed in a double with an extra bed for more than $20 a person per night. AC hot water breakfast included
I hated the location, because I just wasn't a fan of the craziness of Siam Square, and First Hotel is right in that district. It's easy enough to get to a skytrain station (maybe 4 minutes walking), but you have to risk getting run over by cars playing frogger when crossing the streets. The woman who runs this guesthouse is very nice. The room itself was clean; can't really complain about anything for the price we got. In general I'm less enthusiastic about the guesthouses in Chiang Mai than in Bangkok. We stayed in: a double with AC private Thai-style bathroom with hot water soap, towels included breakfast not included 175Baht per person per night
This place was also near (5 minutes walking) the night bazaar. Leave a Comment Theme: Pension/GuesthousePrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: 20 Tapae Rd, Soi 4Phone: (053) 208271Website: www.sarahguesthouse.com Other Contact: info@sarahguesthouse.com

This place is called a Guesthouse, but it's more like a hotel, complete with a pool. It's actually pretty nice and decent, if you want to forego the whole charming, family-run guesthouse feel. The staff is friendly and nice, the rooms are spacious and clean. We stayed in a: double with AC soap, towels were provided private bathroom with hot water breakfast not provided 250Baht per night per person
Location is pretty decent too - pretty close to the Night Bazaar (maybe 7 minutes walking). Leave a Comment Theme: Pension/GuesthousePrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: 15 Moon Muang Rd, Soi 2Phone: 66-02-6533-847Other Contact: topnorth@hotmail.com

This place was charming and decent. They had a tiny staff, all very friendly and helpful people. I think it's owned by a French/Thai couple. It's located in a quiet garden setting. We stayed in a Thai style teak "family" house - 4 of us to a house. There were 2 single bedrooms, one bedroom with 2 twin beds, a common room, and a Thai-style bathroom. It was pretty nice, but we had to be careful to close all the screens to keep the mosquitoes out, and it got quite hot at night. I think there was supposed to be hot water in the shower, but it was so hot that we just took cold water showers. family house (4 beds) fan private Thai-style bathroom breakfast not included 800B (or 200B per person per night, but they gave us a discount and it came to 150B per person per night) They have AC rooms/compounds also, and next time I would probably go for those. It's good to book in advance.
a Thai-style bathroom means that the shower and toilet are in one room, and there's no shower curtain differentiating between the units so that if you're not careful, you'll probably end up getting the toilet seat, toilet paper, and your towels all wet while you're showering. Breakfast was pretty good, but a little pricey. Excellent service, but probably better to find a nearby cafe for breakfast. Location was fun - right next to a colorful, fruitacular fruit market! Also, a modern wat and boys' school and dormitory (for boy monks) was about 2 minutes away walking. The boys were shy but adorable; seemed curious about us foreigners; it was fun smiling and waving to them. All in all, Lotus Village was just a little bit pricey for what we got in comparison to the other guesthouses that we stayed in Thailand. I've heard good things about #4 Guesthouse in Sukhothai, and next time, I'd like to try staying there. Leave a Comment

On my list, this place ranks 2nd (next to Suk 11 in Bangkok) in excellency in accommodations. Highly recommended. We stayed in: a private room meant for 4 people (2 double beds) fan (didn't need AC because it was cool) private bathroom with cold water breakfast included (not much; just tea and toast) 150B/night/person
Very close (walking distance) to the wonderful Folk Museum in Phitsanulok and the Buddha Casting Foundry. Take a Songtao to/from the train station (though you could easily walk without lots of luggage) for about 10B per person. This youth hostel is NOT a typical youth hostel. It is beautiful. A lush garden surrounds the entire compound, and the rooms are cool, made of dark wood, and decorated with beautiful antique furniture items. Our room smelled like the flowers that were just outside of our window. Our private Thai-style bathroom was attached to our room. Very clean. Very laidback and a great place to relax. The only downfall: very hard beds, and lots of mosquitoes if you choose to relax outside on their bamboo hammocks.
