Key Hotel: Location, Location, Location!

by DrunkenTraveller

Booked this hotel online as it was just next door to Citibank in the heart of Bangkok on Sukhumvit road. The monorail is just two minutes away from the hotel so getting about was easy breezy! Terminal 21 mall and Robinsons department store just up the road. Needless to say that this is the best location one could ask for.

Hotel is small and down soi 19. However rooms are fantastic! we booked ourself a room with a small dining and kitchen area. Dishes, Microwave and fridge provided as well. Room was not very big but more than enough for us since we hardly stay in. Hotel has a small bar and restaraunt near the lobby area but we never visited it. No pool.

Only downside is that we tried to make overseas calls but the line did not connect. Upon check out, the reception demanded that we pay for calls that we never made! Aftern much argument they spoke to their manager and made us pay only for the calls which had connected for more than 10 seconds. (10 seconds of recording which said to try again!!) So i would recommend that you do not touch the phone during your stay here!

Location superb. Great value for money!

Grand Pacific Sovereign Resort and Spa: Hidden Luxury

by DrunkenTraveller

When we travelled to Thailand last November, we were determined to travel to places outside Bangkok as well. The choices were between Pattaya and Cha-am. Not having heard of Cha-am before, i guess what made me choose this location was the great Grand Pacific. I usually do my bookings thru Agoda and they had a super deal of USD 80 for this five star hotel. The room was not a standard or even a superior. It was a Deluxe pool view!

The Hotel was majestic. We walked in and were greeted by about five staff members who presented us with a cold towel and immediately showed us to our rooms. The rooms were quite large (about 35 square meters) with a lovely bathroom and even a dressing area. Ofourse the best part was that we had a long pool right in front of the room. The hotel has 3 pools. The main pool, residential pool and another one by a small bar. This was the best and biggest of the lot.

Room service was excellent, food scrumptious and breakfast buffet (Inclded in the price) was fit for a king. Towards evening we sat down in the lobby to listen to some lovely piano music.
The beach is just opposite the hotel across the road. However, we did not swim in the sea since the tide was pretty high that day.

The only downside of the hotel is that its quite a long and winding path from the lobby to our rooms. I even got lost once and my husband had gone in search of me! I guess you would only face this problem if you book a Deluxe pool view room like we did. Hotel was empty except for about 10 guests. This may be due to the fact that Cha-am has not yet been discovered!

Rambuttri village-hotel: Close to nice streets

by Tuna_ank

This hotel's place was good. You can easily reach to 2 nice shoopping street, massage saloons, restaurants etc. Some rooms are nice (at E blok) which has escalator, some of them not! There is a pool with a nice city view.
You have to give 500 baht deposite for the key!
For the breakfast walk a bit. There is a stupid place near the hotel, don't use there. There is a cheap internet facilities near the hotel.

Baiyoke Sky Hotel: Great hotel

by jill92

The tallest building in Thailand!
We stayed here for a few nights in the summer and had a lovely time. Some reviews of it mention having to queue for the lifts as it is a tourist destination in Bangkok but we had no probles at all. Dedicated lifts for guests, I think.
Staff all professional yet friendly.
7-11 store on check-in level very handy for cheap beer & snacks.
I would recommend this hotel for something a bit different although it is a bit out of the way for tourist sights/river area. We had to catch 2/3 trains to get to other places.
Very handy for airport train - walking distance.

Great views from top and from all rooms.

Millennium Hilton Bangkok hotel: Thai Comfort Away From Home!

by acommon1

Beautiful hotel. Great ambiance. Right on the river bank.

It is a bit aways from some of the social activities. You can always hope on the boat to taxi to the other side then hire a regular taxi to go anywhere.

Rooms were magnificant. Beautiful exterior.

Value of this place versus expectations? A bit more costly than I would have originally expected.

Security seems to always be on high alert.

If you're looking for friend patrons, don't bet you life on it. It is all about business here. You'll receive a smile from the workers. The occupants tend to be from around the world.

Give yourself plenty of extra time to make it back to the airport. Might be best to take a water taxi to the regular taxis on the other side of the river. Saves possibly 20 minutes vs. get to and crossing the bridge.

Service was superb!

Even though the air was "thick" and hot outside, the temperature at the Millennium Hilton briskly cools you down.

Grand Sukhumvit Hotel: Comfort Comfort

by trav4bus

Once agin I reached there on June 13, the same simling welcome, quick check in, no objection for early check or late check out, helpful staff, relaxing atmosphre. delicious food

In fruit basket they gave me only green apples only, I did not like that.

IBIS hotel NANA: IBIS

by trav4bus

Stayed again there in End of Dec 2010.Reached at 9.00 am , not allowed early checkin but after arguments front mn gave me room after 30 minutes sittign in Lobby.
After stying there more than 7 days I was not allowed late check out , took the custody of room at 12.00 PM
After the use, Beds are soft now.
Some people smoke in th room and it gives smell in the corridoor.
Still Thai Tv channels only

At Breakfast , I did not like the chipped off cups and plates.

Budget, easy access , clean bed to sleep at night.

Mantra Resort: Pool and beach

by KhunJOhn

A newer hotel abit outside the town center of Hua Hin. Large rooms that were very clean surrounding a narrow pool. Breakfest was average. Staff english was so so. But I did like the room and it was a very short walk down a path to the vast beach stretching out both north and south.

The room size was a perk .

Sivarin Guesthouse: Good place in Bangkok

by Arial_27

This place was nice. Its attached to Khao bann Thai, the other hostel I've rated. We stayed at both in the time we were here. The other one is a little better, but this one is still good. No complaints. Comfy room, free breakfast, free computer/internet access, AC, and about a 10 minute walk to Khao san road. The staff is friendly and helpful, they offer airport transfers and transfers to Cambodia and other places in thailand.
