Rambuttri village-hotel: Close to nice streets

by Tuna_ank

This hotel's place was good. You can easily reach to 2 nice shoopping street, massage saloons, restaurants etc. Some rooms are nice (at E blok) which has escalator, some of them not! There is a pool with a nice city view.
You have to give 500 baht deposite for the key!
For the breakfast walk a bit. There is a stupid place near the hotel, don't use there. There is a cheap internet facilities near the hotel.

Baiyoke Sky Hotel: Great hotel

by jill92

The tallest building in Thailand!
We stayed here for a few nights in the summer and had a lovely time. Some reviews of it mention having to queue for the lifts as it is a tourist destination in Bangkok but we had no probles at all. Dedicated lifts for guests, I think.
Staff all professional yet friendly.
7-11 store on check-in level very handy for cheap beer & snacks.
I would recommend this hotel for something a bit different although it is a bit out of the way for tourist sights/river area. We had to catch 2/3 trains to get to other places.
Very handy for airport train - walking distance.

Great views from top and from all rooms.

Millennium Hilton Bangkok hotel: Thai Comfort Away From Home!

by acommon1

Beautiful hotel. Great ambiance. Right on the river bank.

It is a bit aways from some of the social activities. You can always hope on the boat to taxi to the other side then hire a regular taxi to go anywhere.

Rooms were magnificant. Beautiful exterior.

Value of this place versus expectations? A bit more costly than I would have originally expected.

Security seems to always be on high alert.

If you're looking for friend patrons, don't bet you life on it. It is all about business here. You'll receive a smile from the workers. The occupants tend to be from around the world.

Give yourself plenty of extra time to make it back to the airport. Might be best to take a water taxi to the regular taxis on the other side of the river. Saves possibly 20 minutes vs. get to and crossing the bridge.

Service was superb!

Even though the air was "thick" and hot outside, the temperature at the Millennium Hilton briskly cools you down.

Grand Sukhumvit Hotel: Comfort Comfort

by trav4bus

Once agin I reached there on June 13, the same simling welcome, quick check in, no objection for early check or late check out, helpful staff, relaxing atmosphre. delicious food

In fruit basket they gave me only green apples only, I did not like that.

IBIS hotel NANA: IBIS

by trav4bus

Stayed again there in End of Dec 2010.Reached at 9.00 am , not allowed early checkin but after arguments front mn gave me room after 30 minutes sittign in Lobby.
After stying there more than 7 days I was not allowed late check out , took the custody of room at 12.00 PM
After the use, Beds are soft now.
Some people smoke in th room and it gives smell in the corridoor.
Still Thai Tv channels only

At Breakfast , I did not like the chipped off cups and plates.

Budget, easy access , clean bed to sleep at night.

Mantra Resort: Pool and beach

by KhunJOhn

A newer hotel abit outside the town center of Hua Hin. Large rooms that were very clean surrounding a narrow pool. Breakfest was average. Staff english was so so. But I did like the room and it was a very short walk down a path to the vast beach stretching out both north and south.

The room size was a perk .

Sivarin Guesthouse: Good place in Bangkok

by Arial_27

This place was nice. Its attached to Khao bann Thai, the other hostel I've rated. We stayed at both in the time we were here. The other one is a little better, but this one is still good. No complaints. Comfy room, free breakfast, free computer/internet access, AC, and about a 10 minute walk to Khao san road. The staff is friendly and helpful, they offer airport transfers and transfers to Cambodia and other places in thailand.

Pineapple Guesthouse: Laid back, personalble, friendly, helpful :)

by Arial_27

Our room was a LOT nicer than we expected considering the price and what the hostel looked like from the outside. It doesnt look like much at first, but you get just as much as you do staying at one of the fancier places. We only payed $6 for our room, and we got a mini fridge with free water bottles, cleaning service, AC, private bathroom, and free internet/computer use. The room was also very cute and decorative. Some friends at ours stayed at a more expensive place not far away and suprisingly it wasnt as nice as this one.

We were also close to Karon beach, only a 10 minute walk. Food, shops, bars and tour agencies are all very closeby. Patong beach is the big party area of Phuket and it costs about 350 bhat in a taxi to get there. Patong is for the younger crowd, and Karon had more older people relaxing. We enjoyed our stay here though and wouldn't do any different.

The hostel also has a small cafe/restaurant attached to it where we ate at almost every day. It was cheap and yummy. Pad thai and a banana shake for example, would only cost 70 bhat. Those are amazing prices for Phuket.

There's also a bookswap and a laundry service. The owner held our luggage for us the day we left so we could shop around before leaving Phuket. He went above and beyond in terms of helpfulness. In the lobbeyroom, you'll find an entire booklet he's written up for guests about things to do in the area, stuff he recommends, stuff to watch out for, etc. Very helpful. I'd recommend this place.

The owner is a British man with a Thai wife and children. The hostel is very personalbe that way. They treat you well and are very approachable.

Cliff Cottage: Just like staying at a friend's place

by Arial_27

I'm calling this a hostel, but really it stood out from any other hostel we stayed at. You don't have just a room, but your OWN private cottage. Most of them are on top of a hill so it feels like you're in the wilderness. Ours had a sunset view and it was overlooking the ocean. We couldn't have asked for a better view.

The whole hostel area itself is pretty. The common area sits over this cove where you can go snorkeling, swimming, or just sit in a hammock and relax. You can also eat here for really cheap. Their pad thai is amazing, and only 50 bhat ($1.50 roughly) They also serve drinks.

Bang Bao is the furthest away part of the island, but we don't regret at all the small extra distance we travelled to stay here. You're a little further away from the partying/nightlife, but its super relaxing and a great atmosphere. There's still tons of shopping, dive courses/tours, places to eat and other stuff to do. And the closest beach is about a 20 minute walk. Motorcycle rental is an option though on the island.

The owner of this place is British, so it was refreshing to finally be able to communicate thouroughly with someone in Thailand. He's very nice, laid back. You'll feel just like you're crashing at a friends.
