Near the top of the range
At 600 baht a night, including breakfast (9 GBP) this was breathtaking value. The room was a double, spotlessly clean and serviced every time I left the hotel. Mini-bar, coffee facilities a faultless bath and shower.
Unique Quality: It's central to everything, the service is faultless, the accommodation spotlessly clean.
There is a cabaret/karaoke every night and, for those who like such things, a snooker club.
It was booked out when I returned in 2005 so I spent the first 4 nights at the Roma, just a hundred metres or so up the road. This was also excellent value, but not quite in the Kaen Inn class.

Khon Kaen Hotel
I Have stayed at this hotel on 3 occassions, it is situated near the centre of the town, and a short walk to the A/c bus terminal. The hotel has 7 or 8 floors with twin bedded rooms and suites. The rooms are clean and light with all the usual facilities - A/c, bath tub and shower, hot water, TV and mini bar. The hotel facilities include a Kharioke bar, cocktail bar, coffee shop, music room, barber, massage and a snooker room. Walk in rate for a twin bed is 650 Baht incl ABF - cheaper than advertised on some internet sites. This is the same rate for high or low season. There is also ample car parking and a conference centre. I have found the staff extremely good and very helpful. There is also a travel agency in the lobby. I would recommend this hotel to others and shall be using it myself again. Unfortunately it has no pool.
