near thai-sammakki is there any hotel/resort or farm stay?
Re: motor cycle
Sorry that I can't reply about motorcycle rent but I believe there're many places in Korat City. I think you can ride to thai-sammakki, from korat maybe around 80-90 km but at the end 20 km is a bit up on the hill. Take highway 304 from Korat head to Wang Nam Kheio district. There're many hotels / resorts / farm stay there.
Travel Tips for Nakhon Ratchasima
Lam Takhong Dam / Reservoir
Just traveling through the Highway No 2 between Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima at around the 196-197-km markers, you can see the large water area called Lam Takhong from the highway. Lam Takhong is in the area border between Pakchong District and Sikhio District. There're also many local restaurants in the area, serve local foods. You can make a stop, enjoy the meal and great view of the reservoir.
This restaurant is about the only one in northern style, the interior, atmosphere, music and special dish, famous northern food "Khao Soi". Northern food is not my favorite but a friend of mine who has been there, and tried it just kept saying that it was the best "Khao Soi" he ever had. Khao Soi, Pad Thai Kung Sod...
Land of Ceramic – Dan Kwian
Dan Kwian is a village in Dan Kwian District, about 15 km from the east south of Nakhon Ratchasima downtown. It is a place where locals have been engaged in their Ceramic products manufacture for a long long time. All the ceramic products are famous for their unique look.
About the history, the village was a place where caravan stop between Nakhon Ratchasima and Cambodia, and all their vehicles were cart so it was caravan of carts stop, become a name of the village nowadays (Kwian=Cart). While they was stopping there, always made some utensils from local clay there and brought them home and found later of the special clay quality.
Nowadays the locals still make ceramics product from the local clay, a special black bronzed clay from The River Moun, and the ceramic products become one of the major export goods from Nakhon Ratchasima.
Also known as Khorat - Gateway to Isan
Khorat, formerly known as Nakhon Ratchasima, is known as the gateway to the Isan region and is one of the biggest cities in Thailand. Located about 260km north-east of Bangkok, it's a modern city with the odd glimpse back to its founding’s in the 17th century here and there. The 'old' city was once encircled by walls but still retains its moat, similar to that of Chiang Mai. There's not a great deal to see here and I used it as a base for exploring the superb Phimai Historical Park which is about an hour or so north-east of the city. It's possible to reach the Cambodian border at Aranya Prathet which is where I went after staying here.
