From Phuket to Korat.. HELP

by vtecturbo

Hi all,

anyone can advise me the best transportation to use if i wanna go korat from phuket??? Is taxi a good choice? how long does it take?

thanks!!!

Re: From Phuket to Korat.. HELP

Korat is over 2 hours by road east of Bangkok. Maybe the best would be to fly to Bangkok then take an intercity bus from the northern bus station (Morchit) in Kampengphet Road. Unlikely that taxi from Phuket would do the trip, and it would be very expensive.

dragonc's advice is absolutely right. Forget to hire a taxi from Phuket to Korat. It can be done but it is very expensive to do so and will take a lot of time to journey as well. You could fly into Bangkok by budget airlines or by bus and train, its probably about 11 hours to reach Bangkok then take another bus or train to Korat.
Look into these budget airlines website:

Good Luck!!!!

Previous post is right, just look at a map and check out how many miles or kliks the two cities are separated! Flying to Bangkok might be best and then taking the bus. I have gone there several times by bus and the ride is not bad.

Many years ago I flew there from Bangkok, not sure if there are any more flights, didn't think it was a good value anyway. You have to be at the airport an hour or so early, then you have an hour for the flight - might as well as take the air conditioned bus and save some money.

While you are in that area take another bus to Phimai when you have time. I worked in that little town a few times on archeology digs as a volunteer. Biggest banyan tree in Thailand is there (their claim) as well as the Phimai Wat and museum. Phimai Inn on the main highway (across from the newer bus station) is a nice cheap place to stay at, has A/C and a pool too! Phimai is around an hour by bus from Khorat.

Visit Vineyards in Wang Nam Khieo

by Wann

Although Wang nam Khieo is around 70-80 kms from Korat city but I love driving up there, many vineyards in the area open for visitors to walk in the vineyards. Some places have a shop sell their own products. In the photo was at Ta Wan Kaw Vineyards locate on the route to Khao Pang Ma.

Wat Phra Yap

by Willettsworld

I walked past this temple which had an intriguing sign saying "Amazing Cave In The City" and I had to go in and investigate. A monk showed me around the ground floor of a building that was completely decked out in stalactites and stalagmites which have been stuck to the floor, ceiling and walls by an abbot 70 years ago.

The large Reclining Sandstone Buddha image

by Wann

The Reclining Buddha image or local call Phra Non, it’s the most ancient and largest a Reclining Buddha image that made from red sand stone. The image was built around 1200 B.E. Now the image is located in Thammachak Semaram Temple, Sung Neon District where there are some more small ancient sites which believe were built in the same period. This place I drove only half hour from central of Korat town. The district is also very rural and natural.

Korat My Beloved Hometown

by Wann

"The Gateway to the Northeast of Thailand"

Korat for me is a city where life goes on, filled with histories and precious memories. I was born and raised here and now living west of the city. I have simply life here and do love it, work full time 5 days a week, go to mall sometimes, go walking, biking in public park, or just wander in downtown that already make my day. I just love it here!

"Korat people"

There are people of various ethnic backgrounds living in Nakhon Ratchasima but Thai Korat people are the largest group of people with Korat culture.

Thai Korat People lead a simple life like other people in the rural areas. We have our own culture and the most unique characteristic is that we speak the Korat dialect. Most importantly, we are proud to be who we are !!

Photo of Korat people with thai flag was taken at Thao Suranaree Monument, central of Korat City. Over 10,000 people get together On Friday, October 9, 2009. I was one of them, we were there to sing the National Anthem together.

It was very impressed the moment we sang the National Anthem together and small Thai flag in our hand. A very precious moment even through the National Anthem is only few minutes long. The National Anthem I heard that day was so different from other days in my life!

Singing National Anthem was one activity in the United and Strong Thai Project organised by Thai Government last year (2009).

There are wave-liked plains on the Southwestern, northern and middle parts of the province, accounting for about 48-50% of the total area of the province. The plains are suitable for growing crops such as tapioca and jutes.
