I am teaching at a government school now in Roi-et. This city is around 7 hours by bus from Bangkok. I really like the food here and the people are friendly. It is a bit less commercial than Bangkok, Phuket or Pattaya.
If one is looking for a true flavour of thailand - especially Northeast, then Roi-et is a good place to check out along with other places near here.
Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkhon is located inside the compound of Wat Pha Namthip Thep Prasit Wararam or the Chai Mongkhon Pagoda Temple.
At 101 metres high and rising from a 101-metre-wide and 101-metre-long base, this pagoda ranks as one of the most beautiful and largest pagodas in Thailand.
Lord Buddha’s relics are enshrined in this five-storeyed Chai Mongkhon Pagoda.
