This highly recommended hotel is just what a tired and weary backpacker would look forward to at the end of the day for a good rest. The cleaniness, brightness and the friendly front desk staff add the extra appeal to this place although the rooms can be a bit small.
It is near to the wet market where you can start your morning afresh, mingling with the locals and have a good and inexpensive breakfast over a cup of coffee, soft-boiled eggs or some other local fares. It is also within 100 meters to the night market where makeshift food stalls without fail, will start to mushroom in the evening, and fill the air with the most tantalising aroma of local fares and barbercue food.
Now - after we have tried most other hotels in the city - we stay at Tohsang City. Its located next to a great local restaturant and the hotel has the best breakfast. They have free airport shuttle.

Decent twin room for only 350 baht. Its near moon river and right around the corner from "Sri Esarn Hotel". "Sri Esarn Hotel" is more expensive, they wanted to charge me 700 baht for twin room 4 stories up with no elevator, while I was walking out they dropped price to 600 baht. "Sri Esarn Hotel 2" is the better hotel and right around the corner. Its a real backpacker style hotel, nothing fancy but everything works. Service was extremely friendly and helpful, you should note they do not have great english but they had great smiles. The other more expensive Sri Esarn had some good ratings online but where not so hot, I ate at the restaurant 3 times, one time I went in to make change for 1000 baht bill and they refused. Clerk said I wanted something for nothing.
"Sri Isarn 2" is great.
Hotel is run by decent people and great value for money.
