  • Luxury rural villa escape

    by

We stayed for 5 days. For us it was a treat as it was more expensive than our previous stay nearby, but well worth it. The villa was very dramatic and beutifully finished in old wood, with clay tile roofs, a huge wooden deck and our own private swimming pool.

The location is deep in the countryside of Northeast Thailand, about 30 minutes from Udon Thani (but free transfers are arranged.) So this place is excellent for peoople wishing to get out into the untouched villages and see rural life in a part of the country not normally visited by foreigners, but would not suit those looking for raucous nightlife.

The Thai family looked after us very well (they live in a village a little way away) and the food was simply superb..if spicy!

Unique Quality: The private pool is raised and has great views of the surrounding countryside, burt remains very private.

The design was breathtaking..as was the Thai food: let them know if you want them to cooker milder dishes!

Directions: A very private and hidden location in the countryside. Don't try to get there yourself: you will get lost! They'll pick you up from town for free!

  • Extraordinary villa accommodation

    by

This is a large private villa set in the countryside on a large private farming estate, which we rented for 4 nights. It has two bedrooms, a large living and dining room, a huge wooden deck and private swimming pool.

We wanted a spot of luxury after our trip through Laos (Luang Prabang down to Vientiane) and this was just the place to relax, and it was great to have all our meals prepared for us - and to have the washing up done! It was also a great base from which to discover a part of Thailand that is trul off the beaten track and away from the tourist meccas.

Great service and amenities, and recommened for those seeking something diffrent, romantic and relaxing, or to just chill out. Not a good place for those seeking a noisy nighlife or city lights!

    Unique Quality: Superb private pool
    Great design and touches
    Delicious Thai food
    Friendly hosts
    Space and more space!

Directions: Take the free transfer from Udon or you'll get lost!

  • Totally unexpected treat!

    by

As a family we wanted to stay in a house rather than a hotel, and tracked down Green Gecko.

The villa is run by a Thai family who live in a village a couple of kilometres away. They collected us from Udon Thani airport and cooked all our (excellent!) meals throughout our stay, and generally recommended places to go and things to do, taking us to sights and allowing uis experiences that we surely would not have had if staying in town.

This property is a large Thai villa with lots of wood and a large wooden deck with a private pool that the kids fell in love with. There were two bedrooms, each with aircon and an en-suite bathroom, a large living and dining room, and kitchens that were properly stocked with all the right equipment, plates, glasses, cutlery etc...although we hardly got to use any of these apart from when we were being taught how to make a local speciality, as the family cooked all our meals...and did the washing up!

The villa had a laptop with internet, satellite TV, DVD, stereo, ipod dock etc.

One word though: this place is great for adults, but be aware that if you have young children the deck leads straight into the infinity pool, and because the house and deck are raised some way off the ground, you'll need to keep a close eye on the children! This also makes the villa unsuitable for the disabled.

Unique Quality: Great infinity pool and deck, with a covered sitting area when it gets too hot!

Superb Thai food. Don't be too quick to say you like it spicy: lots of chillies means lots of chillies here!

Very peaceful countryside setting on acres of grounds - rice, sugarcane, tapioca, woodlands etc.

Very kind and friendly host family.

The design: almost like a Thai temple and lost of unusual furniture etc.

The outside shower with views over the grounds.

Directions: About 20 kilometres from Udon Thani, direction southwest.
get them to pick you up or you'll never find it!
