Terrible stay!
We stayed at the Al-Farouq because it was recommended by the TAT office in Chiang Mai when we phoned them. At first things seemed ok, the room was a bit tatty and claustrophobic with only a small window looking out onto the car park. However, that evening two coach parties turned up full of drunken, loud Thai people. That night we didn't sleep a wink with drunken idiots roaming the corridors singing and shouting. We phoned the front desk to ask them to intervene, however nothing was done. The shouting continued until 03:00 and then the noise restarted at 04:30 as the two coach parties prepared to leave at 05:00. The room has no soundproofing from the corridor whatsoever. There is a large gap below all of the room doors, and the corridors are tiled so the noise resonates through the whole hotel. In summary, there are far better choices of hotel as we found the next night when we moved to another hotel.
Unique Quality: There is nothing outstanding about this hotel to make it worth the trouble!
