Suriwongse Hotel Full At Xmas! Help Needed Please to find alternative

by chiangmaifoxy

Hi guys,
i am in c mai 22 dec - 20 jan

i just tried to book suriwongse hotel with chiangmaionlinehoteldiscounter,as iv used that site everytime.tried to get a superior room again(1150 per night) but told fully booked.dissapointed as i got in last xmas.

i really like the location(loh kroh/night bazzar/bars/fast food lol etc)
could anyone please help me find a good alternative hotel or condo, around this location.
with me staying 4 weeks maybe better to get a good condo as would of been spending over 30,000 at the suriwongse anyway!

could anyone advise on these options iv found for quality of room and price.

1.royal lanna hotel - next to red lion pub (heard the basic rooms are bad,but they do a monthly rate)
studio is 9000 a month(bad rooms i take it)
junior suite 12000 a month(how are these rooms?)

2.duangtawan(price ok - but 1675 per night from 24 dec - 04 jan) a bit too much!

3.chiang mai plaza - 1100 per night

4.pornping - 1150 (tower wing/not the front wing)

5.raming lodge bottom of loh kroh road - 100 per night (expect it will be rather noisy 24/7)

6.good condo - up to 20,000 ish for the month

if anyone can recommend me any of these,or any i dont know of it will be much appreciated.
would maybe like a really nice condo within 5 mins of suriwongse location.royal lanna sounds good but how are their top rate junior suite rooms?

thanks in advance for your time

We've stayed at Raming Lodge twice, and never been bothered by noise at all. Its well located near the market, bars, restaurants etc. and a really nice little hotel.

Hello there
I will be staying in Chiang Mai for 1 month from 23 November to 22 December and I booked in Viangbua Mansion (http://www.viangbua.com/)
Rate for month is for a superyor room of 12000-14000 Bath.
Lots of people say that is a very nice place to stay (one of the best in chiang mai) so I think you will be better look at serviced apartment if you plan to stay for about 1 month.
Let me know if you need any help!

We have stayed Royal Lanna in hotel room. Has two sides overlooking bazaar(was building site) and overlooking hills,(much better). Position cannot be beat, rooms big with air con, fridge, poor cable TV, kettle, hot water in bathroom comes from instant water heater installed underneath sink(aren't those things supposed to be above shower head?) bit temperamental.Marble floors and white walls make coziness a bit hard.

Has luxy foyer and breakfast good buffet.

Wouls stay again as position in Chiang Mai is everything and night market is the place. Reasonable room rate around 1000bht but does not have rates after October 06 on site at moment!

I would say , nothing fancy once in room but does the job pretty well!

Don't touch the top of childrens' heads

by SumTingWong

It is considered rude to touch the top of children's heads. And for that matter the top of anyone's head. The top of the head is considered to be one of the most holy parts of the body and cannot be touched by others.

Handmade & Painted Umbrellas

by BorderHopper about The Umbrella Factory

There is a factory where artisans make paper umbrellas and hand paint them with unique asian style designs. On the premisis is a large shop that sells the items at somewhat of a discount. The umbrella are very pretty and we purchased some for our home in Los Angeles and our condo in Bangkok. set price

Nagoya

by vividvivian about Nagoya Japanese restaurant

restaruant got no elegant decors but a rather local one with some japanese menu on the wall and some posters as well. you can only find waitress in the restaurant in japanese uniform. the owner is a japanese man and waitress have to learn Japanese too. they speak pretty good japanese, though :)
food is ok, cannot complain. just a bit hot in Summer night.

Great brunch ...

by Tusitala about Bake & Bite

Bake & Bite have about 3 outlets in CHiang Mai now, one just east of Ta Phae Gate, one in Nimminheiman Soi 6 and the other in Chang Klang night bazaar area.

They do a good coffee, and comprehensive menu of pastries, etc, but really come into their own with a brilliant brunch selection. Sunday mornings, that's me sorted ...

They kick off at 7am till 5pm, except Sundays which is 8am till 3:30pm Eggs Florentine ... really creamy cheesy sauce smothered over the eggs. Mmmmm!!!

Chiang Mai Jungle Trekking - Day two

by mary2u99

After breakfast of toast and scramble eggs. This was a tough day as we walk and walk, up and down hill for hours.

We had our elephant ride on this day. It was really pathetic to see the elephant. These are probably retired worker elephants and there were only 3 elephants for 10 of us so we cramp in the elephants seat…like sardine and the elephants was walking along the river and it’s so dangerous. But I guess the elephant and the Mahout is the expert as none of us fall to the river. We had our lunch of fried rice here. For brave one there is the small fiery chili to try.

After lunch we walk up more hills and finally reach a small river and we swim in the muddy river rested have some beers and chat. Our dinner was rice, bamboo shoot, mushroom with chicken and Thai curry. Yummy.

After dinner we all sat around the fire play cards games and chat and had some beers. Oh there was ashortage of beer so one of the local went and got some more beer for us. It was really a wonderful experience!!
