A modest but good hotel
This hotel consists in two parts, one part is the old wing with very modest rooms and shower and the new part with confortable large rooms and nice bathroom. Different prices; I started in the old wing, but changed to the new one with a supplement of 500 Bth.
This hotel is not directly situated in the city center, but some what outside. But only 5 minutes walking from the south gate of Chiang Mai, called; Chiang Mai Gate, the plce of a very popular and animated daily market. I would not recomment the old wing, unless a good solution for backpackers.
Unique Quality: For reaching the night bazaar, you can take a tuk tuk, because walking is about 20 minutes.
The swimming pool of this hotel is confortable, large and clean. Personnel at the reception is very friendly and helpfull. I would quote this hotel as a 2 to 3 stars. Breakfast is a good quality american or continental one. The restaurant is of good quality but not more then any other "hotel-restaurant".

Chaing Mai Gate Hotel - Acceptable accomodation
This is your standard, run of the mill budget hotel. We really didn't spend much time here, but the facilities were reasonably clean and the staff was friendly.
If you book online, you can get their standard double room for around $16.
Unique Quality: While the room itself was nothing spectacular, it did offer a nice view of the Doi Suthep mountain.
Also, they offer free fransportation from the airport, train and bus stations.

15minutes TUK TUK drive from NIGHT BAZAAR
Chiang Mai Gate hotel is about 15minutes away from the night bazzar. But ,it's a very good quality hotel with budget rate. They offered 700b per night with breakfast.
