Its been very pleasant stay at the Chiang Mai Orchid hotel. The staff are very friendly. The location is also quite accessible. U might need to take a short trip on tuc tuc to get to the city if you do not want to walk. The hotel is also besides the Lotus PSK hotel with shopping. Can find some cheap stuffs there. The hotel food is also reasonable priced and delicious. However there are not much facilities. Most of all the rates are cheap! Enjoy your stay there.
Unique Quality: Friendly staff. Cheap rates.

RE: PLAESE REPLY. SERVICED APARTMENTS IN CHIANG MAI
I don't know Boonthavon, but personally, at only 6,500 per month, I would have doubts about whether I would want to stay there for 2-3 months.
As far as Viangbua Mansion, it is NOT in the 'touristy' part of Chiang Mai, but instead, is located in a VERY Thai neighborhood.
"very far away"? - Chiang Mai is a small city, and you can walk from Viangbua to the 'moat area' or to a large shopping center (Central) in about 20-30 minutes. If you don't want to walk, you can take a songtaw (communal red taxi) for 20 baht.
Next door to Viangbua is a very large Thai 'wet market', and a western stlye grocery store is a five-minute walk away.
As you mentioned, neither has a pool, but Viangbua has a small fitness center. If you want to swim, you can join Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel Fitness Center, for 1,200 baht per month. There are also several places in Chaing Mai, where you can pay a 'daily rate' to use a pool/fitness area.
