Chiangmai to Bangkok.

by kitty1721

Can anyone tell me how to get a flight from C.M. to Bangkok? Details as what flight should i take? Time of flight? The distance and the fare. Thanks much.

Re: Chiangmai to Bangkok.

You can go online if you want to check the current prices and other details. I have used Thai Air in the past and have been satisfied.

Or, you can simply step into one or two of the many travel agents all over Chiangmai and ask them the price and schedule!

It's only a short ride to Bangkok. I would select a time where you don't have to get up really early to make a flight (my preference is not too far from check out time at the hotel but never the last flight of the day!)

Some hotels provide free transportation to the airport, perhaps you could co-ordinate your next flight with a free ride.

Often the travel agencies have a menu list on display with current prices. Check more than one travel agency to compare prices, but you will find them pretty close! Sometimes you can get a flight the day before you want to fly but it may make more sense to reserve your seat a few days sooner to make sure. Buying your ticket in Chiangmai or Bangkok will probably be cheaper than buying it from outside the country! Travel agents are used to tourists flying some where "on the spur of the moment!"

Or, you can take a train back to Bangkok.

Travel Tips for Chiang Mai

Bamboo Rafting

by vigi

After lunch, we head over for a 3-hour bamboo rafting down the river. This is very fun, although 3 hours is bit long, I think. Started to get bored and tired after 2 hours. My shoulders are all sore the next morning.

I love this rafting because this is a standing one, and everyone have to get involve with rafting, instead of just sitting down there enjoying the scnery like a tourist.

Residences in Bhubing Palace grounds

by balhannah

Only four kilometers from Wat Doi Suthep, is one of the King's palaces, Bhubing Palace. It is different to other Palaces that each building has been built in different styles, yet all are simple, blending in with the gardens.

The additional buildings include residences for other royal family members.

Phra Tamnak Payak Sathit, built in 1993 with eucalyptus wood in the style of a log cabin, was for His Royal Highness Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn.

Phra Tamnak Phrueksa Wisuthikhun which blends Thai architectural styles of the North and Central Thailand was once the royal residence of the late HRH Princess Sri Nagarindra the Princess Mother.

Phra Tamnak Siri Song Bhubing, built according to Her Majesties wishes, as she wished to study the use of eucalyptus wood in the construction of buildings, so this building is also called "Phra Tammnak Eucalyptus".

Open everyday from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. except when the Royal family is in residence.

Catch the nighttrain to Chiang Mai

by AMOQUE

It's very easy to travel from bangkok to Chaing Mai by train.
It's possible to buy a ticket on Bangkok central trainstation. I recommend to you, to buy it ceveral days before you want to leave. We went by second class sleeper. Very comfortable and cheap. ( Euro: 12,50 1 way).
If you wish so they can serve you dinner and breakfast in the train. In one car there is a bar, where you can smoke and drink if you want to.
When you want to sleep they make a bed out of the chairs. You can choose: Upper or lower bed when you buy your ticket. Lower bed is more comfortable as it is a bit bigger and there is a window.
You also can choose weather you want airco or not.

Doi Sutep Restaurant

by Cathy&Gary about Doi Sutep Restaurant

Next to the car park at Doi Sutep are some markets and a few little Thai restaurants.

We had lunch at the one in the photo and it was delicious.
We ordered chicken with garlic & pepper, fried rice & pork, chicken with green pepper, a large singha and large a bottle of water.

Our bill was 175baht and the food was great, very spicy!!

The handicraft village

by LotusV8

Bo Sang and San Kamphaeng is absolutely worth a visit, Bo Sang is called the "Umbrella Village", here You can find beautiful paperumbrellas, from small til huge garden umbrellas, It is easy to send a packet home from the main postoffice in Chiang Mai.
San Kamphaeng is more known for its silk and cotton, I also found a lot of woodcarvings here, It´s dirtcheap.
We visited the small but extremly cheap market in San K. and bought some clothes (10-50 THB)
We took a bus from the post office in the northeast area of C.Mai (16 THB)
