We booked this hotel online. The rates were good and the location seemed perfect, right on the river Ping and near to the night market, but what a disappointment! The hotel was old and tired and the 8 girls behind a very untidy Reception area spoke hardly any English. We eventually were given keys to a room on the 9th floor. Great views of the river but the room was filthy and obviously hadnt been cleaned in a very long time. Back down to Reception and after a lot of miming we were given another room on the 7th floor. This was better, certainly cleaner but still tired and worn, and need of new furnishings and bedding. There even looked like a bullet hole in the glass window! Breakfast was a disgrace with three of four Thai waitresses sitting at a table who looked just too tired or bored to get up and clear tables or replenish dishes. The buffet area was disgusting with food dropped everywhere and lines of ants enjoying it! I know you get what you pay for in this world but this hotel had been advertised as the only first class hotel on the river so we were expecting "first class". We actually cut short our stay in Chiang Mai as this experience really spoilt the whole point of being there.
Unique Quality: The only saving factor of this dreadful hotel was its location. What a shame it didnt live up to our expectations.
