World Cup Final
by amcconnell
We'll be in Chiang Mai on July 11th. Any suggestions for good places to watch the World Cup Final?
And what is local time of kick-off?

The best bar/restaurant is Riverside pub but I can't remember if they show football there. I'm definitly sure that it was mentioned that they had a match on the night before. I'm sure they'll show the WC final. If not there'll be plenty of places around. They love their footie out there.

It will be on your hotel TV too, most likely on several different channels, some with English commentary and some in Thai.

You can try a beer garden at Saeng Tawan intersection on Chang Klan road. They have beer, food, and a huge screen for every match.
Travel Tips for Chiang Mai
Cheap Internet Services

Most outside the city moat in Chiang Mai charge on average about 1 baht per minute, or 30 ~ 60 baht per hour for internet acess. But within the old city itself, there are many places who charge only 15 baht per hour for internet acess.
Unfortuantely with accordance to Murphy's Law, I myself only found out about this on the last day of my trip. Oh well....

Nothing Bizzare About the Night Bazar
by BorderHopper about The Beer Bar of your choice & a Good Pool Table
I didn't pay attention to which beer bar/ pool table bar we walked into that night but I do recall that it was one of several in and around the Night Bazar in Chiang Mai. Seeing that we were a group of families we weren't hassled by the girls at the bar.
When you are all Thai-d out!
by RAINBOWWINGS about The Hofbrauhaus Restaurant
After 3 weeks of Thai food, which I adore, I just felt all Thai-d out and needed something completely different, so where better to go than a German restaurant! This huge place with lots and lots of terrace tables and chairs was always full. A smiling chubby Thai couple dressed in lederhosen and Germand/Austrian national costume greeted us and lead us to a free table. Wienershnitzels were a must and absolutely delicious. Giant steiners of beer crowed the small tables and the whole atmosphere was one of holiday fun...an oasis in the midst of madness. Our second visit saw us eating a huge prok chop with creamy mashed potatoes and red cabbage. Dont miss it! Everything on the menu.
Kaohom Cooking School in Chiang Mai
by Fleetz
If your in Chiang Mai and looking for a Thai cooking class experience then I would recommend you give Kaohom at try www.kaohom.com
I had done a couple of classes in Chiang Mai and the one I did with Kanchana the owner and teacher was excellent. Kanchana speaks excellent English and teaches her classes with enthusiasm. I was picked up and returned to my hotel after the class, the school is located about 20 minutes from Chiang Mai in the most pleasant country surroundings. The school is set up the best I have seen in Thailand, I have now done classes in Bangkok, Pattaya, Singapore and Chiang Mai, Kaohom is the best set up by far.
The classes are very much hands and well organised, Kanchana give plenty of tips and welcomes questions during the class. The cost is not the cheapest in Chiang Mai however in my experience well worth the small difference. Kanchana is very passionate about her cooking and reflects is how she teaches her class.
Kanchana can be contacted by email kanchana@kaohom.com or phone +66 5386 2967 mobile +66 19935320
