Please needing reply as soon as possible

by Homanded

Has there been any signs of the protests or civil unrest as is going on in Bangkok throughout Chiang Mai.
Large group may be needing to relocate plans to CM for June.

Thank you
Homer

Have heard one or two stories from Chiang Mai and Udon Thani, but don't know how bad. but that was a couple of weeks ago.

Remember the Red Shirts are people from the North & North East, so there might be some demostrations.

Travel Tips for Chiang Mai

Whitewater Rafting

by secondwind

Not to be confused with bamboo rafting which is a far more sedate affair. We went in December when the water levels were down but it was still an exciting trip - there were about 6 good rapids and around another dozen lesser ones. The whole trip lasted about an hour and there were some quiet stretches to allow us to enjoy the river scenery and the odd bit of wildlife.
Don't know the name of the company but any travel agent can hook you up - we used Paew and Gem's Travel Service, a very friendly husband and wife team with good English skills who went out of their way to ensure we had a good time. Contact them on 04-0410298 or paew_utthono@yahoo.com

Go Bungy!

by dimanche

This was my maiden jump and there was totally no fear in me at all...just bundles of excitement! The crew were very friendly and efficient and the whole process was completed in just about an hour. (including the time taken waiting for other jumpers). Excellent thing to do if you need a quick and cheap thrill in a mundane life! You can actually go to any tour agency located throughout the night bazaar/central area and ask them to make the arrangements for pick-up from your accomodation. Costs the same to book everywhere.

A Famous Pub by the River Ping

by DarkRay about The Riverside Bar & Restaurant

The Riverside Bar & Restaurant, together with The Good View Bar & Restaurant, are two of the most famous night spots in downtown Chiang Mai. Situated beside River Ping, both spots offer their patrons a nice unobstructed view of the river while serenading them with live music.

Both venues are popular, with The Riverside having a slight edge possibly due to its slightly more central location. Regardless, do turn up early because by 7.30pm, they are usually already fully packed, regardless of whether is it peak travelling season or not. Smart Casual

Excellent veggie food! Mjammie

by Lyneke about Gap's House

Buffet of many many different sorts of plates. And all veggie. Ok, I am not a vegetarian, but than again.. the food tasted just SUPERB!! A real recommendation. Also the surrounding is more than ok (a bit intimate because not much light) And - oh my god - so cheappppp !! 80 bath and you can eat as much as you want.

Wat Doi Kam

by wanjim

Wat Phrathat Doi Kam is located in Mae Hia District. It was abandoned in 1966. Later many ancient images of the Lord Buddha were discovered so the villagers helped to reconstruct the temple and named it Wat Phrathat Doi Kam. The Chedi serves as a land mark for pilots when coming in to land at the airport. Visit wanjim-thailand.blogspot.com.
