Feeling frazzled Part 14
by herzog63
Just before arriving at the village we had to cross a stream and there wasn't any bridge which was fine with me. It would give me a chance to cool down! After our arrival and we said our hellos to the locals I just sat down and took a break! Check out the crotch of the pants that I'm wearing. They are blown out from climbing the first day! Lucky I was wearing running shorts underneath! LOL

These small pickups with a covered bed are very common in Chiang Mai both as taxis and as transportation for the excursions. When taking them through the mountains, just remember to hold on tight if you are in back of the bed.
Good food and home-made pizza
by June.b about Rose Restaurant and Bar
It's the ground level of the Rose Guesthouse few walks from the Sunday Night Market. While waiting for the Sunday Night Market to start, we took our pizza here twice or 3? It was our favorite meeting place since a friend is staying in a guesthouse nearby.
The big electric fan cools us off while we listen to the sound of the waterfalls at the corner while watching BBC news on 2 big flat panel TV. There's a bar a little inside and the restaurant is surrounded by many plants while sitting on the wooden chairs and munching our delicious pizza.
Their home-made pizzas are good-tasting, we tried both the vegetarian with spinach and seafood pizza, and so is the deep-fried pork ribs. They serve good breakfasts too - choose from German, American, English, Continental and Local variety. They have too many dishes to choose from.
A sign on the front of the restaurant along the street says " Second Best Pizza" in town, never tried finding out the first though.
The owners are friendly too. Pizza and the refreshing watermelon smoothie

My guidebook said "if you see only one wat in Chiang Mai, see this one." I took their advice. It was started in the 14th century and contains a great deal of Lanna art. I enjoyed the fading murals depicting two Thai fables. I also enjoyed sitting in the temple watching a monk quietly instruct several students.
