I am planning for a holiday in Chiang Mai in Dec with a group of 4 other families and their kids ranging from toddler to teenager. I am planning for 2 nights stay in city and 2 nights in a kids friendly resort outside Chiang Mai. I have read about Lisu Lodge and Khum Lanna but find their price abit too expensive for our budget. Need recommendations on kids friendly accommodation as well as where to get good deals for renting of mini vans. I am also interested in the elephant ride but not sure if it is safe for a 15 mth toddler to ride on. Any recommendation or advice is much appreciated.
Hi there,
I don't have an answer for your questions, but are in the same boat. We are traveling end of December, need child friendly accomodations, the 5-year old wants and elephant ride and are a little nervous about our baby that will be 15-mos too. Let me know if you find anything out and I will do the same.
So far though, the accomodations I have found that might work are the following;
1. Kaomai Lanna Resort
2. Maesa-Valley hotel Chiang Mai
3. Green Lake Resort Hotel Reviews
4. Lanna Mantra Hotel
5. Athitan Villas Hotel
6. Krisdadoi Chiangmai Aprime Resort
I sent a message out to the group earlier this evening and am still waiting on a response. I should still be on page 1 if you want to check to see the replies.

Hello,
My family (husband, 5-year old, 1-year old and I) will be in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai at the end of the year. We will be staying 5-nights in Chiang Mai and 2-nights in Chiang Rai. We are looking for family friendly accomodations. I have put together a list. Do any of you have experiance with the following;
Chiang Mai:
1. Kaomai Lanna Resort
2. Maesa-Valley hotel Chiang Mai (This one looks really cool)
3. Green Lake Resort Hotel Reviews
4. Lanna Mantra Hotel
5. Athitan Villas Hotel
6. Krisdadoi Chiangmai Aprime Resort
Chiang Rai:
1. Laluna Resort Hotel
2. Doi Hom Fha Resort hotel Chiang Rai
3. The Legend hotel Chiang Rai
Best Regards,
AJ
Let me just add one to Chiang Rai: the 'Anantara'. It's a 4*+ overlooking the Mekong and Ruak rivers in what is commonly known as the Golden Triangle. From there you can see both Burma and Laos and visit hilltribes etc.
Regards,

I haven't, but please allow me to offer a compliment on your post.
On this forum, for some reason, there are many, many, vague and incomplete requests about hotels.
I've criticized some of those vague posts.
So it is delightful to see someone has done the research, put together a list, specified when and where, along with exactly what they are looking for.
That is refreshing, and an excellent way to use a travel forum like this one.
I only wish I could provide some answers for you.
