Small waterfalls part 7
by herzog63
After we hiked past the summit of the mountain we passed these little water falls which is basically the start of the stream that provided the cool crystal clear water that we had gone swimming in further down. In the rainy season this are must be raging with huge amounts of water flowing down the mountain.
doi suitep
by call_me_rhia
doi suitep is the sacred wat of Chiang Mai: it's located about 40 minutes and 40 bahts away by shared jumbo. And once you get there you discover that your first impression is one of repulsion: stalls everywhere pushing you to buy their wares. Then you see the long sttep staircase.. your way to peace and quiet! Once you reach the top (breathless of course) it's like entering another dimension: it's a wonderful wat all shining and glittering of gold, with interesting frescos and niches with buddhas statues. It's a bit crowded but it's a quiet crowd, since Thai people come here to pray. There's also a terrace with some decent views over Chiang Mai and the surroundingcountryside. So yes, Doi Suitep is worth a half a day trip!
Reliable kind of Transportation
by Lyda1973
Unlike Bangkok you can trust them, are very reliable, they take you where you want without stops to jeweller's or silk shops, it's definitely worth it, is the kind of transportation you look for a small city and prices, more than reasonable.
thai food at old wooden house
by Audrey118 about The Whole Earth
Serves Indian !!! and Thai cuisine.
Lovely old house and nice garden setting.
I love their ceramics which had hand drawn water lilies over it. The food serving is large, very tasty and would love to go back for a quick lunch.we had green curry and also a delicious ginger eggplant - which had lots of basil leaves - so fragant. And i have to have my pad thai - which taste awesome here. My husband had a mango and sticky rice for dessert. with coconut juice the bill was a mere 660 baht.
must see

it was the highlight of my trip to chiang mai, for its serenity and beauty. elevated, expansive, relaxing, spiritual, and a good view of the city (which isn't much of a view, but at least you're high up). also, you are well on your way to a tribal village if you wish, and can bookend this onto your tour of doi suthep.
