Big hotel with two wings

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on November 26, 2007

The hotel had decent amenities. The main downside was if you stay in the "old wing", you have to walk a long ways to get out of the building or to the next door shopping center.

Unique Quality: Big mall connected to the hotel.

Directions: Next to Central shopping center at NW corner of moat.

Lotus PSK Hotel

The hotel is located conveniently in the centre of many attractions and connected with Kad Suan Kaew shopping complex, the complete and biggest shopping complex in the nothern region.

The hotel grand lobby captures the beauty of Lanna heritage through a lovely combination of natural atmosphere of the most enjoyable lounge with snacks, drinks & live music.

It offers you beautiful mountain and city views in our Suthep Wing 420 guest rooms, of which 390 Deluxe and 30 Executive Suites. Huay Kaew Wing offers 246 Superior rooms with economy rate appropriate for both group & family & for either seminar or leisure purpose.

Kad Suan Kaew shopping complex has many to offer: food court, cinema, bank, F&B, pharmacy, supermarket, departmental stores, etc.

Unique Quality: San Kam Pheang Restaurant, an expansive dining hall, features an international buffet breakfast. For your enjoyment, it provides an Olympic sized swimming pool, fitness centre, sauna & steam room, snooker club & Thai massage.

The hotel is large with two wings - Suthep Wing & Huay Kaew Wing. The connection between these two wings and Kad Suan Kaew shopping complex is a bit confusing with lack of signages. You need to take different lifts or staircase. You will get a while to be familiar with the direction.

I stayed in Huay Kaew Wing and the room is spacious with king bed, 4 sofas, 3 chairs, writing desk, dressing table, 2 wardrobes, mini fridge, etc. The bathroom is also spacious and is divided into WC & shower area. My stay was both comfortable & convenient.

The hotel is just 15 minutes' drive from airport.

Stick to deluxe .

Luckily we had booked a deluxe room which was a lovely room except for the bathroom which was dark and old .
Most things were adequate but nothing stood out except for the main lobby with all the lanna decor . The lifts took forever to come and then were full so you spent a while hanging around waiting . It's one benefit is that it's joined to the shopping mall which was great and we spent more time in there than the hotel .

Unique Quality: The deluxe rooms had lanna decor and nice views over the hills . It also had a huge pool with a nice surrounding area .

This hotel appears to have once been a fairly high-class establishment housed in a single building, and has since absorbed several surrounding hotels and buildings (now called “wings”) which are not nearly as nicely built or maintained as the main building. Now consisting of several buildings connected together on multiple floors but with no consistent floor-numbering system, one can get lost and stay lost quite easily wandering around this mammoth complex.

On check-in we were assigned rooms in the secondary buildings which we inspected and quickly rejected. Advice: insist on the main building and avoid the other wings altogether.

The main building is a unique architectural statement built around a vast atrium with a large lounge/sitting area at its base, complete with indoor water features and a live band playing in the evening. The rooms were spacious enough to have a semi-divided sitting area by the window. The maintenance level was only acceptable - most showers had visible mold stains in them.

This hotel offers Thai massages, but be warned this is not what I would call a “spa experience” - highly trained, professional staff administering a wide array of massage techniques in an ultra-clean, well-appointed, and serene environment.
