Rachamanka: Zen in heart of city

Stunning boutique hotel hotel with a Zen-Thai Temple charm. The hotel has open, frangipani scented courtyards, lush with tropical plants and water features. The room is a stylish minimalist-type room mixed with antiques and local handicrafts. The hotel uses Lanna art and interior design. It was nice just walking to breakfast through the open air courtyards. Not a big hotel (23 rooms) so you don't have to worry about crowds. 1 restaurant and 1 bar.

Unique Quality: Good pool, interesting door locks. Free internet (but slow) in the library.

Chiang Mai's Best Hotel

We stayed at this exquisite hotel, which I can only describe as luxury Thai in style. This is ideal for those that want to experience the boutique style hotels, rather than the massive impersonal hotels that luxury standards normally mean. I chose the hotel as it was in the centre of the old town and we were there for the Songkran, New Year Festivals. It proved to be ideally situated, for seeing the town, day trips up country and for a relaxing time. Despite being so central there was no traffic noise, so laying by the pool, surrounded by the beautiful gardens was great, after a long day. It wont suit the larger louts or people with 20 kids, but its great place to get away from them! The airconditioned rooms are mostly on one level, and open directly onto the central courtyard, see pic attached. The hotel taxi driver, Ken, deserves a special mention. He is exceptionally polite, professional and a careful driver and goes out of his way to look after you. If you can, book him for your duration of your stay, he’ll take you anywhere. Another special mention is the Kao Hom Cooking School. An absolute paradise of a place. This is like cooking in heaven. Forget the rest, this is the best, as I checked out most of the cooking schools in Chiang Mai, and have also been to several others around the world, none compare to this one. www.kaohom.com. They will pick up up and drop you back to the hotel.

Unique Quality: This is a small boutique luxury hotel, centrally located and very nicely appointed.

New beautiful boutique hotel in Chiangmai Old City

Booked this hotel after finding out that Tamarind Village (same owners) was fully booked. Nice old feel of traditional architecture and antique furniture. Impeccable service. Big pool with lovely blue celadon tiles. Slightly disappointed that there is no bathtub despite being more expensive than average!

I 've been here as an architecture study trip but never stay here.So it's just an information for new place.
If you love a style of boutique hotel ,this one may catch you to the old time by antique style of furnitures both Thai and Chinese decorated.

The Royal Princess Hotel is where I stayed in Chiang Mai. Excellent hotel, good service, really really great location right next to the night bazaar. A bit pricier but worth it. About 1500-2000 baht/night, depending on the season.
