More about Secret Garden Chiang Mai
This is the Place to Stay
by TripAdvisor Member StClairs
Get all the benefits of seeing everything Chiang Mai has to offer with the serene, comfortable and secluded Secret Garden as your oasis from the city. Peter and Pai could not be more gracious as hosts. They go out of their way to make sure that every need of every guest is met. Although the Secret Garden is about 15 minutes from downtown Chiang Mai, this is a major benefit because guests are truly able to relax and unwind after a day of adventure and Peter and Pai make transportation to and from the city incredibly easy. They even pick up their guests on arrival into Chiang Mai and also provide transportation on departure. All this and the food was excellent, from the incredible European-influenced breakfast on the most lovely of earthenware to dinner with some of the best Thai food in all of Thailand, all served underneath a tree canopy gazebo at the center of a lush tropical garden. After traveling through southeast Asia for two months, our stay at the Secret Garden recharged our enthusiasm with its old world charm graced with Thai hospitality.
feel at home in holiday

Thousand thanks to Peter an Pai for giving us a precious time of rest on our amazing holiday through south east asia!
We loved the spacious bungalow, the evenings at the kitchenbar, the perfect menues (special thanks to Pai!) and the overall nice garden.
The next time we visit Thailand, we will of course return to the Secret Garden, but next time some days longer.
Close to perfection

After six weeks of travelling in Thailand and Laos I can honestly say there is no place like this to be found elsewhere.
Everything in the Secret Garden is superb: the location is a peaceful haven- a real garden of Eden, the hospitality and generosity of the owners (Pai and Peter) is incredible, the food is excellent, ... and above all, it is a total bargain. We couldn't believe the prices and what you get in return for it. If Secret Garden would be somewhere in Europe I would spend all my holidays just there, chatting away with Peter.
If we just new in advance how wonderful this place would have been for us and our children, we probably would have stayed here much longer.
beatiful and relaxing place
by TripAdvisor Member Schussi
Arriving at Secret Garden 3 o'Clock at night, tired from a bus ride from bangkok we fell asleep imidiatly just to wake up the next day in a beatiful garden!
It was the first relaxing spot of our trip and we fully enjoyed it. We even extended our stay from 3 to 5 days.
Thank you very much for this great experance, Pai and Peter!
Wonderful to find a peaceful oasis

We stayed at the Secret Garden mid January after 6 weeks on the road. Tired and exhausted after fighting our way through Bangkok and Chaing Mai it was wonderful to find such a special place to chill out for 2 days.
Pai and Peter the owners, as previously mentioned, were wonderful. Between them they taxi'd other guests to various destinations and although Pai is not running the cookery courses now, you can go into the kitchen and help prepare the food and receive instruction on how to cook the evening meal. It was great. Free internet was a bonus for booking up the next 3 weeks hotels. Their lovely daughter Isabel had just started her exams. Hope they went well.
Nicest place and people we've ever been to

My wife, our daughter Leana (age 4) and myself would surely agree on this: choosing just one place anywhere for a holiday, it would be staying with Peter, Pai and Isabel. It sure was difficult to leave again. We planned to stay for just a few days, left after 10 days just to return for another three days before we had to leave Thailand again for Switzerland. The place is a No-Go for people looking for superficial fun, noisy action and night life or lacking interest in culture, people and the country they are in. Otherwise, this is just paradise for the reasons rightly mentioned by so many other visitors: very friendly and familiar atmosphere, a truly relaxing and most beautiful place with all the real luxury that counts: accodomation to feel immediately at home, beds to sleep like a king, a kitchen that makes you eat too much all the time and people that become friends if you want to.
Perfect in every way! Wish we could have stayed forever...

After having read trip advisor reviews and found that this was the #1 spot in Chiang Mai, I cancelled our other reservation and booked our stay here. Although it had been hard to find by taxi (we suggest speaking to the owner Peter about your transportation from the airport/train station), we came to find in fact that the secret garden was just as incredible as everyone had mentioned. The bungalows are cozy, clean, and fantastically decorated. The food was absolutely TO DIE FOR! Peter cures and roasts his own meats which are the most delicious flavors I have ever tried. The breakfasts each day were superb! The grounds of the hotel are just incredibly manicured, with a little pond, swimming pool, outdoor fireplace, poolside bar, pool table, etc. Great place to bring a family or to go for a little romantic R&R. We will definitely be back again...and I hope soon! Thanks again to Peter and Pai who made us feel so welcome and cared for. We loved every second of our stay here.

the perfect getaway

The Secret Garden is a quandry. it should remain a secret as i don't want it to change in the slightest, it is simply "that perfect"! Peter and Pai have created a paradise that will appeal to anyone who wants total relaxation. the facilities, food and drink, service and overwhelming sense of peace are perfect. if those are not good enough reasons to stay here then nothing else i'll write here will persuade you. 5 of us stayed after completion of a 1 month CELTA course. the course was intensive to a point we all felt in need of returning to being human again. Peter, Pai and the team at Secret Garden helped us achieve that.
we will all definitely revisit and let's put it this way, to go back to that quandry at the start, some secrets should be kept, but this is one that shoul;d be shared with everyone!!
Thought I'd died and went to heaven!

We didn't want to leave! Imagine the quaintness of a B&B with lush gardens, orchids, ponds, a peaceful pool, and all outside the bustling city. Not to mention Pai's excellent cooking!!! From the welcome drink after Peter picked us up at the airport, to the intimate dinner setting outside in the dining area, we felt right at home. After staying in impersonal hotels in Bangkok, what a delight to have adult conversation with other travelers while feeling we were guests in the home of Peter & Pai. I plan to come again!!! Don't ever change!!!
