July Weather Condition

by Terry_Ching

Hi we'll be coming to Chiang Mai this Thursday @ 26/07 for a week holiday
Just wondering hows the weather condition?

Re: July Weather Condition

by keszzz

It's the middle of the rainy season, so we've been getting rain almost everyday.

But so far, it hasn't been very heavy or has it lasted very long.

The important thing is the Ping River isn't anywhere near flood stage.

Thank you so much. Most of my activities will be outdoor just scare will affect my itinerary.
How long the rain will last? For example when i was at Phuket, the rain just last for 10 minute then stop after few hours start again for 5 minute. Is Chiang Mai also the same?

Re: July Weather Condition

My hometown is Seattle so I should KNOW about rain, but I'm sorry, there's just no way I can predict what it's going to do.

The rain today has been off and on for most of the day, but NOT heavy.

Travel Tips for Chiang Mai

The kids in the villages were great! part17

by herzog63

In all of the villages that I visited they kids where just kids! They were all curious of us and not one of them ever asked for anything like candy or pencils which is quite common in other places that charity organizations have been to. We all showed them pictures of where we were from and they enjoyed looking at the pictures in our books.

Doi Inthanon National Park

by SumTingWong

Doi Inthanon National Park is in the heart of the jungle of northern Thailand. Here many hilltribe villages dwell, as well as all of northern Thailand's flora and fauna. Many good trekking companies will take you deep into Doi Inthanon National Park to see more authentic hilltribe villages (Hmong and Karen), however due to the high levels of tourist many of the villages have been "more westernized".
Doi Inthanon National Park is also home to Chiang Mai's mountains and waterfalls. Mount Doi Inthanon is located here and is the highest mountain in Thailand (2565 meters). The Mae Ping River also runs through the National Park, providing a waterway and lush green surroundings.

To get here you need entrance passes (normally you have to be with a trekking company see (Along Highway 107

Very Easy to get here

by norain

To get to Chiang Mai is easy, very easy. You can go there by bus, train or plane. By bus, you can take the bus at the northern bus terminal. It takes 10 hours to get from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. By train, you take the train at The Central Station (Hua Lampong). If you want to go by plane, it will take only 1 hour to get there.

very respectable looking Thai restaurant

by Mr.Sparkle about The Gallery

Live traditional Thai music, candle lit and on the water. Its romantic and certainly a nice place to go with your sweetie. All the food is exquisitely prepared but a touch on the pricey side (by Thai standards). Expect long waits as the service is extremely slow. It is worth the wait.

Beautiful view of Chiang Mai

by chennaismartguy

From Doi Suthep, you can have a beautiful view of Chiang mai. Its good if you negotiate with the Red Taxi (Songthow) and reach there from Chiang mai. You can easily get it for around 300Bhatt, for 1 to 8 people.
