Chiang Mai releasing Hot air balloon

by mamamiamia

I want to go to Chiangmai on December 27th to get a chance to release hot air balloon experience. Because of my busy schedule, the only time I have this year is December 27th. Can I "loi khome" at this time? If so, where?

Try the following: http://www.chiangmai-chiangrai.com/hot_air_balloon_riding.html or http://www.balloonadventurethailand.com

Balloons will probably be flying then but you will need to book in advance.

I'm sorry! I didn't mean hot air balloon. I meant, LOY KHLOME releasing lit lanterns into the night sky. :)

Travel Tips for Chiang Mai

Internet Cafe, International Phone & Fax

by Tusitala

Want a clean, cool, airy, quiet, FAST internet cafe? All Seasons Travel is the place I've found that offers the best of these at affordable rates too (30 baht an hour!). This is where I am writing these tips from ...

Eight terminals, most with web cams. They can burn CDs too.

Handy locations on corner of Ratchadamnoen Rd and Jarbaan St (diagonally opposite intersection from Chiang Mai main police station) and outside Tapae Gate just down from Art Cafe near Flight of Gibbon.

Making Friends and Romance Thai Style Part VII

by allthai

The next step is to take her to a gold shop and purchase a nice necklace for her. Nothing to big and flashy but just something she likes. Let her make the choice but you keep it, don’t give it to her yet.

It is now time to go and ask her parents. You should take a well-respected Thai friend along (male) who can tell them about your good character. When you go take pictures of your family, your house and any other personal pictures that shows what your life is like back home. Then give the gold necklace to your future wife in front of them. Ask if you can marry her and say how much you love her and why. She will give the necklace to her mother who will have it blessed by a monk and return it to her. You are now engaged.

Now you can live together until the wedding. The wedding date will be set by first consulting a trusted Buddhist Monk or church pastor. Then the wedding plans can begin. You will have little or no say on how many people, where it will be held, how much it will cost or who to invite. Of course your family and close friends will be allowed to participate and attend.

I hope this helps in understanding the Thai way of romance. Remember things are done much differently in their culture and they are not going to do it any other way, trust me.

Kalare Night Bazaar

by yipsufen about Kalare Night Bazaar

A colourful shopping arcade, well stocked with gifts and unusual crafts of Lanna products. Enjoy favourite flavours with refreshing daft beer. Select delectable food from Thai, Asian, BBQ & vegetarian. Relax in our easy-going, spacious beer garden with open air stage where lovely Chiang Mai maidens perform traditional dance.

What is interesting here is that you can shop for everything and drink and dine & watch live band / performance here, all under one roof, without worrying rain or shine.

Open daily from 11am till midnight.

A place to forget

by Lyda1973 about Piccola Roma

We had to pay even for the bread and the butter, besides they almost charge us the parmegiano that I asked for the pasta, and the portions are small and the food was just ok not for the price that we paid. For me, the owner are stingy; the waitress didn't know how to serve the dishes, slow service and finally, we asked for tiramisu and they brought a piece of ice cream with cocoa and cinamon on the top, of course I made the claim directly to the owner but she said it was their personal touch or something like that. Wat Chedi Luang

by yatingchen

The building of Wat Chedi Luang caught our eyes. You see and you fall in love with the historical architecture. Built up in 1441 and is more than 6 centuries years old. Elephants around it shows how meaningful the animal are for Nord-Thailand.

Wat Chedi Luang means great tower temple. The buddha was transfered to Bangkok. Recently UN and Japan support to repair it.
