Chiang Mai - Top North Guesthouse

by Kitang about Top North Guesthouse

This place is called a Guesthouse, but it's more like a hotel, complete with a pool. It's actually pretty nice and decent, if you want to forego the whole charming, family-run guesthouse feel.

The staff is friendly and nice, the rooms are spacious and clean.

We stayed in a:
double with AC
soap, towels were provided
private bathroom with hot water
breakfast not provided
250Baht per night per person Location is pretty decent too - pretty close to the Night Bazaar (maybe 7 minutes walking).

Really really good value for money

by traceyspacey about T-Room Guesthouse

After searching around for accomodation that was in our budget, available and somewhere we actually wanted to stay. We found T-room guesthouse which is amazing. For 350B a night it almost leaves me speachless as to how good it is. It's set in a modern (yet doesn't stand out) building with modern, bright rooms. Reasonably sized room, cable TV, small balcony with views of the hills, attached modern very clean bathroom (via the balcony), large double bed, good security and no obvious strip lights. Other than not having a purple bedspread as shown in the website, it is how it looks. If you need the use of a swimming pool just pop over the road to Top North Guesthouse and use theirs for 100B a day (They wanted 400B for a room that just doesn't compare to ours). Really really good value for money. Very clean and comfortable.

Italian Food

by SumTingWong about Il Forno

If you want a break from Thai food, go for Italian. This is an excellent restaurant located right by the Top North Guest House Hotel in Chiang May city. An Italian man owns it and the chefs are Italian. The food is excellent and you can get many Italian types of pasta, pizza, and other food. Although it is not a symbol of Chiang Mai's culture, I just had to mention it, the food is too good. Pastas, Pizza, and other Italian food all for under 350 Baht.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

by AdventureSEAsia

"Chiang Mai Introduction"

The city of Chiang Mai lies at the foothills of the Himalayas, in northern Thailand. Chiang Mai city contains many wats and exciting sites and activities. The Night Bazaar, Day Market, and Wat PhraThat Doi Suthep provide excitement during the day and night. A visit to Ban On Luai is also a must for a day and night, here Thai life and culture will be experienced. Why not volunteer in On Luai by helping out at the wat or teaching? Things do to and see in Chiang Mai city and the surrounding areas include: The mountain wat, Wat PhraThat Doi Suthep, city tour by pedicab, playing football, Thai life, meditation, night bazaar, day market, and walk through rice patties.

Top North Guest House and others

by liliyangyang

hi

i will be heading chiang mai end of the year. have been reading alot of reading online and have more or less zero in on one of these guest houses. we will be travelling with 2 children, 4 and 8, so would appreciate any kind of feedback on how "family-friendly" are these guest houses?

1. Top North Guest House
2. Tapae Place
3. Paradise Guest House
4. Chiang Mai Thai House

I think these guest houses dont include breakfast in their room rates, but can anyone comment on their breakfast?

Does anyone have the email of Paradise because the one on their website keeps bouncing back - some kind of error, it seems. There seems to be very little review on this one also ...

Chiang Mai Thai House, I believe, is very NEW, so new that they have not responded to my many emails. Anyone been there before?

thanks!

Visit to Chiang Mai

by manja62

Dear all,

Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it. I have another question.
I am not sure whether to stay at the Star Hotel or Paradise Hotel & Guesthouse. Please give me your comments on these two hotels especially their distance to the night bazaar. Star Hotel is nearer but Paradise Hotel looks like a nice place to stay.

Thank you.

Try Pornpin Hotel. Its near the night bazaar.
Other hotels you can try are
1) Tarin Hotel
2) Holiday Garden
3) Top North Guest House
4) Top North Hotel
5) Lotus Hotel
6) Suriwongse Hotel

I have booked Lotus Hotel as its the only hotel that connected to a shopping centre with night bazaar easily reached by tuk-tuk (public transport).

Has anyone here stayed at The Top North HOTEL? Any feedback, pro or con? Any suggestions for a NICE clean hotel with a pool that gets sun all or most of the day? We will be 6 nights in Chiang Mai after a 6 week stay in other parts of Thailand. Want something not TOO expensive, but clean and nice.

Re: Hotels

by seagypsy

I've stayed at the Top North Guesthouse and have also visited the Top North Hotel and found them a bit dated, especially the gueshtouse. Might try the Awawana on the small lane on the backside of the Montri Hotel. Small pool but very clean and cheaper.

Re: Hotels

by emmet7

I stayed at the Top North and it was decent, lame breakfast but good location near night market, OK pool and acceptable service. Enjoy!

Re: Hotels

by sagee

stay at the Peoples place hotel, just down from the Adanac Night Food Bazaar, where the Night Bazaar is, it is 600 baht, or stay at the Night Bazaar Place Hotel, very good, and convenient,,,800 baht per night...

Re: Hotels

last year I stayed at Smile house 1, inside the moat. It is a very budget friendly place with a cute small pool (I think about 450-800B. They also have their own cooking school. They had a more high end hotel, Smile House 2, just outside the Moat, South of the Thai Pae gate that I think also had a pool, maybe twice the price of the other location.
