Cooling down part 6
by herzog63
As we passed pools of crystal clear water and more crystal clear pools of water our guide said ok..Do you guys want to go for a swim? It took about 4 seconds for all of us to take our clothes off and jump in the water! There could have been a herd of wild crocodiles in the water and we probably would've still jumped in as we were dying of heat exhaustion. After 10 minutes or so we were ready to go again. I filled up my water bottle with the delicous iodized water and we were on our way. I was wishing that I would have packed a few more chocolate bars! I needed the kind that didn't melt in my 120 degree packpack as they were almost liquid as I ate/drank them. My candy bars were all gone on the first day.
Good Luck Birds
by trisanna
At many of the temples you will or may have noticed that by the steps of the sim or bot there are women selling birds in small cages-usually made out of palm leaf. For a few baht you can release them and make a wish. Not sure if they are homing birds or they buy them in a market.

Homecooked Thai Food
by danlisha about Sophia
Serving mainly the homecooked halal Thai dishes at very low prices. Menu variety is limited though and as night falls, there are alot of large flying insects.
Opposite it, there's another halal restaurant selling Khao Soi Noodles which they say is apparent good. They open only for lunch. Had Chicken Pad Thai at only 30THB which was fantastic. The chicken meat is juicy and sweet.
Get cooking with A Lot of Thai
by travelingbunny
One of our favorite things we did on our trip to Thailand was to take a Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai. Friends of ours had done a two day course with A Lot of Thai and loved it. Unfortunately, since we were pressed for time, we were only able to fit in an afternoon class. The afternoon class, although the shortest of all the courses they offer, was just perfect for us. Yan (the husband) picked us up at our hotel in a groovy old VW bus and brought us out to the house, where they have the patio converted into a little cooking school. Yui (the wife, and chef) took us to the local market and gave us a guided tour of different Asian vegetables and specialties. (some more appetizing looking than others) We then returned to the house, where we prepared and dined on Pad Thai, Sweet and Sour Prawn Soup, and Yui’s favorite, Green Curry. It was a fun, informative and low key affair, and you even leave with a recipe book full of Yui’s fantastic Thai recipes. NOTE: although you can book a class through local booking agencies they offer a 7% discount if you call directly. I believe it ended up being about $18.00 a piece, well worth it since there was no need for dinner after trying all the food we’d made.
