I lived in Chiang Rai for a while - my friend was kickboxing there. The gym he used was Sipodam. It is quite hard to find but if you go to Cat Bar and ask the owner Sam, he will point you in the right direction (he was an ex-champion)

Travel Tips for Chiang Rai

The ideal centre

by Fenultimate

This unique city is the ideal base for touring the Golden Triange of Northern Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. Car hire is very inexpensive if you shop around, as is motorcycle hire. I found a girl from the Triangle who acted as a guide and translator, with the result that I found many little out-of-the-way spots, many of which were utterly enchanting. My friend Pin, the food and the general easygoing aspect of the place.

The golden triangle

by Svillegas

It was called like this because in the past there were a lot of drugs business paid with gold. From one part of the Mekong river, it is located between Myanmar, Laos and Thailand. You can see there where the countries are joined. There’s a boat trip available to all tourists and you can go to the Laos shore! But on the other shore there are only shops!

Hike to Khun Korn Nature Park

by easterntrekker

This was a chance to work off some of that fabulous Thai food . To get to the waterfall we hiked through a majestic forest park . It's a peaceful Nature park with lots of spectacular bamboo trees and sounds of birds and insects. It's about a 40 minute trek to the Falls ( mostly uphill) You will here the falls long before you hear it ...oh and don't be alarmed by the screams...that would be hikers who decided to have a dip in the cool water!!
