Akha Hill House: Perfect jungle retreat

I arrived 1 week ago looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of the cities, and I found it. Midst in the jungle, the rooms have stunning panoramic views of the jungle and sun rising over the misty mountains (well worth waking up at 5:45am for the sunrise!), and the nearby waterfall and hot springs are well worth a visit! The staff are very friendly and eager to learn or practice their English. The cheap rooms are a bargain - basic, but with private balconies overlooking the valley which more than make up for the lack of a TV! (pay more and a TV is available). The hotel has free internet and wifi which has worked consistently, and the food is reasonably priced, so no need to go into town. If you do want a day in Chiang rai, the pick up truck leaves at 9-9:30am and will bring you back at 4 - just ask Tao (the driver), whose English is very good. I've had the most amazing time here and feel more relaxed than I have in the last year! I wish I didn't have to leave!

Janson House: Good budget option in town centre

This 3-storey block is well located in the centre of town, about a 10 minutes walk from the bus station and close to the night market and the entertainment area of Jedyod Rd. It's a nice clean place with rooms overlooking a central courtyards filled with plants. My room was fairly large with no wall marks, a large wardrobe, small desk, large mirror, cable TV, fridge, double bed, a/c, and a hot water shower which was one of the best and hottest I had during my stay in Thailand! My room cost me 450 baht and this includes a small breakfast of toast, jam, tea/coffee in the reception area.

Baan-din-phu-chee-fah Resort: Worst stay

Baan-din-phu-chee-fah Resort, chiang rai. It ‘s situated inside the lynchee orchard. The price is too high comparing with the service and facilities. 400 THb/peron in a private room or 800THB/room. U may think nice place as the room made from soil and get free lynchee when it's the season. Photoshop can make the photos look great than actual, right? Remember that advertising always choose the good points to state it.. Though we all come home safely but we think here is unsafe place to stay as no security system. Ei…the hot water system using gas is aweful…eui…. Choose the good one if you can. I wont recommend until they may improve the quality and service...Write Feb9.09 after few days staying there

The plam garden Hotel: Right Price & nice stay

The plam garden hotel , chiang rai. Good place to stay ,clean and nice persons to service, with reasonable price 900 THB/room incl breakfast and all facilities. A bit far from center of chiangrai but getting good price with quiet room… nice to pay at this rate. Stay on Feb7,09 http://www.thepalmgarden.com/
