Day Trip to Chiang Rai
by RinaNeo
One free day in Chiang Mai and was thinking hard of what to do, I cant be spending the whole day shopping or pamper myself in a spa...or have a few strong woman cracking my bones during the traditional Thai Massage, btw a nice relaxing one hr thai massage cost between 200- 250 baht for a not so fancy place. If you want a top class place, try Oasis Spa, the pamplets are everywhere at the Chiang Mai airport. Its pricy.....
So , no shopping , no massage and what to do ? Sign up for a full day tour to Chiang Rai, and the Golden Triangle and along the way, visit the ancient city of Chiang Rai and the natural hot spring.... and not forgetting the visit to the Long Neck and Long Ear Tribe....( Some tourist decided to stay put at the waiting area instead of trekking with us for a about 10 mins before we reach the residence of the tribe.
The day tour starts at 7.00 am and ends around 8.00 pm cost 950 baht and includes a simple buffet lunch along mekong river...I was wondering if they serve the "Nagas" a huge fish that looks like a dragon....
For 950 baht, you'll be travelling in a air con mini bus, around 8-10 ppl and an english speaking tour guide and a non english speakinh dirver :))
Feeding the elephants
by easterntrekker
When we returned safely from our ride, to the stopping place in the village. The elephants were treated to a snack pack . It contained corn , bananas and sugar cane ( which seemed to be their favorite). They were so cute . They knew what was in store and waited patiently for us to buy their treat and feed it to them . They take it from your hand with their trunk . They were trained to pass the sugar cane to their owner ( they were given in limited amounts ...who wants a fat elephant . I guess)
