In the Center of Chiang Rai

In the entrance hall there is somewhere a sign, explaining that the name is a mixture of languages meaning something like "Rest for the weary traveller" and was suggested so by the ministry of tourism...

Well, anyway. It was another hotel we had on our tour.
It must have some contacts with a lot of tour operators, because there were quite a lot of tourists there (not only westeners, but also Japanese and Thai).

Unique Quality: Very big complex with astounding long floors.
Clean Rooms, a lot of them don´t really have a view (except you call the next house a view).

Located close to a main road, but a little set back so you won´t hear anything of the noise.
Some minutes walk to the Night Market of Chiang Rai (yes, they also have one).

Big Buffets, many people.

chiang rai

Chiang Rai is the place that - accommodation-wise - was a big let down. One wonderful guesthouse I had set my eyes onto, was full.. the others i found were definitely shabby... Same for hotels.. Eventually I gave in and chose a pretty one - very sterile

Unique Quality: Nothing special - ur usual fancy-ish hotel. But it was conveniently located near the bus station.

  • Opinion of Price: more expensive than average

Amarin Lagoon...

Amarin Lagoon (Phitsanulok)
Wienglakor (Lampang)
Wiang Inn (Chiang Rai)
Chiang Mai Plaza (Chiang Mai)
Tara (Mae Hong Son)
Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza (Bangkok) We were on a tour and stayed at all the above hotels. They were all first class with very good food.
The Tara in Mae Hong Son's restaurant is a bid on the expensive side.
