Beautiful Peaceful Resort

This resort is 7km out of Mae Hong Son in Northern Thailand. It is set on the edge of Mae Surin National Park and you can do many walks from the resort into the park. The resort even has dogs they send out with you to show you the way!

We were there in winter and temps were about 30C during the day and about 5C at night. Accommodation is in bungalows set amongst trees and gardens and we found it very private. The food was excellent and service great too.

There is a daily shuttle to and from the airport and MHS town. One day we hired scooters from MHS and went looking at other attractions around the area.

You can get here from Chiang Mai on a 30 minute flight, or take the bus for 9 hours and go around the 1000 bends in the road! How budget do you want to be????

Unique Quality: The people, the dogs, the setting, the pool, the food - all good! We thought the price was great for what you got.

Fern Resort

900 Baht per night in the year 2000

Unique Quality: After living in Thailand for a number of years, i never thought i would find a place like this. Quiet, tastefully done, environmentally conscious, absolutely unique. Swimming pool, camp fires, bicycle rentals, hiking trails.
No TVs or radios!
The food is excellent as well. You can choose to eat in the dining area or, in the evenings, you can eat at a picnic table away from others or at some other tables placed around a camp fire - it is the best atmosphere. And so quiet.
Hard to capture its essence on film; it is most beautiful at night.
We rented bikes and cycled into town once, an easy trip.

More about Fern Resort

Chiang Mai is very popular...

by gotlostagain

Chiang Mai is very popular city in the north. From Chiang Mai, I proceeded on to Mae Hong Son, about 30 minute plane ride. It is a smaller town which I found more relaxing. Here I stayed at the Fern Resort, a few km outside of town. It is next to rice paddies and a National Park. About $10/night for a quaint bungalow with porch, bathroom and fan. Nice cool pool and trails to National Park also.

We flew to MHS from Chiang Mai for a 3 might stay at the Fern Resort, just out of MHS. It was a great trip, really relaxing and lots of places nearby to visit - hire scooters, it's the best way to get around.

Went to visit a Friend in Chiang Mai - great town. The food at the Art Cafe is great! Had an excellent birthday lunch there! Then went on up to Mae Hong Son, and stayed at the Fern Resort. This is a sweet little Eco-tourism resort. One Word - GO!!!!!!!
