Is there a direct bus from Nan to Luang Prabang?

by changkt

I read the Bangkok Post on the Internet a few months ago about the launch of regular bus services plying the Nan-Luang Prabang route, so can foreigners enter Laos from Nan now?

I am in Nan city right now. I've asked few peopl around - they all say "can". however regarding direct bus - have to confirm that. never went there myself. but bus station is near by and I'll be have to buy my tickets, so might as well ask for you about this direct bus.

Travel Tips for Nan

Unfortunately Nan was a bit Naff

by stripeykelly

We decided to go to Nan as it was meant to be a lovely town in the mountains, cooler than the valleys, a lovely temple for even the most overly templed. But we were disappointed. After 6 hours on the bus, which was cramped and a bit cold, we arrived in the dusty town of Nan. Now I would like someone to point to me the mountains it is meant to be in? There were some in the distance, but we were not exactly in them, nor was it particulary cool. We caught a tuk-tuk into the centre, which is full of various hardware shops, and a few tribal craftshops, then walked for what felt like forever until we found the guesthouse we planned to stay at.
