Phitsanulok - Royal capital for just 25 years
Phitsanulok is an important transport hub in Northern Thailand, about halfway between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Many travellers will at least pass through Phitsanulok on way to and from the North. Whilst the city itself is not the most exciting or prettiest place in the world, it was a royal capital for 25 years during the Ayutthaya period. There are only a few sights to see in the city itself and I spent the night here after getting to the city by train from Lopburi. I then took a bus the short distance to the historic former capital of Sukhothai. If your times limited then don't bother visiting here.
