Help with my Thailand itinerary!

by pecaspat

Well...again, I need help from everyone that can help me. I', being to be disparate because I can't decide my itinerary! I have 7 days to visit Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Ayuthaya and Sukhothai. For me is being pretty difficult organise the days and I don't know if maybe I should avoid one of the cities? For me is hard to decide not visit Ayuthaya, Sukhothai or Chiang Mai : (

Can anybody recommend me what to do?

I will really appreciate any help!

Thanks to all in advance!

With 7 days I'd do Bangkok, Ayutaya(day trip) and Sukothai.

I went to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Siem Reap and Penom Peng in nine days! So your trip is do-able. I personally didn't care that much for Bangkok. We took a day trip from there to Ayuthaya (I wouldn't miss that). Chiang Mai was much more beautiful (and cooler) with less smog.

Traveling from city to city by plane is very easy. And the flights aren't expensive.

Good luck!

doable but a hell of a rush.
Sukothai is awkwawrd.
I would suggest going by train and fly back. Pittsanolok is the stop for Sukothai, then bus, or if you are flush get a taxi for the day. (about 1500/2000). Sukothai is much nicer than Ayutthaya. Less people and parklike. Rent a bicycle for the day.
I really wouldn't want to to it all in 7 days though. You'll need early starts every day. Not much of a holiday.
Do BKK and Ayutthaya this trip. Then you've got an excuse to come back.

Like the other person said I would go to Sukhothai and leave out Authaya. Much more to see in Sukhothai .I would spend 2 days in Bangkok and then fly to Chiang Mai .Book a guide to take you for around there is so much to see and do here. We used 12-fly ( think its called) If you look at my travel pages , you'll see the name. We got the bus to Sukhothai and then train back to Bangkok. All easy to arrange when you are there.

Wat Thawet

by HasTowelWillTravel

This wat is not on the typical tourist path. It was designed by a devout Buddhist during the 1970s in accordance to the sights he remembered from his dreams. This special wat is broken into several sections. One depicts the various segments of the life of the Buddha. Certainly one of the most memorable, if disturbing, sections was the one depicting various scenes from Buddhist hell. And a final 3-tiered tiled structure, whose purpose I was unable to ascertain. A strange and wonderful place, worth a side trip.

Wat Mahathat

by dabuwan

At the heart of the Sukhothai Historical Park, Wat Mahathat is the largest and most important complex of ruins in the area.
Wat Mahathat consists of about 200 religious buidings (all in ruins), dating back to the Thai "Golden Age" (13th-14th century). There are many interesting buddha statues and some pagodas are still in very good conditions.

Wat Sa Si

by Willettsworld

Situated to the northwest of Wat Mahathat, this ancient edifice is beautifully located in the middle of a large reservoir known as Tra Phang Tra Kuan. Its important buildings include a chedi in a bell shape, a vihara and the ordination hall in the middle of the reservoir. The bell shaped stupa serves as historical evidence of the diffusion of Sinhalese Buddhism in Sukhothai. This stupa is sometimes known as the chedi in the Sri Lankan shape. According to the inscription on a golden plate, it is believed that the relic of Phra Maha Dharmaraja Li Thai has been enshrined in this stupa.

A: "No idea of timings but there is a bus service between the two cities. Once there ask for directions to the bus station, or ask your hotel to check for you."
