Green surroundings
The location is not at front beach but a few min walk to beach and ten min walk to main street where tons of shops and restaurants. It's not a big resort but enough to feel so relaxing, all green surroundings. The staffs are all very friendly and helpful. We just feel like at home. The pool is nice and the food is good.

hi I am thinking of booking a two week holiday to khao lak in october and am worried about the weather here at this time? can any advise me on this

Irish, hope this gets to you in time.
The weather shouldn't be all that bad, it is at the end of the rainy season so you may get some rain, maybe even on a daily basis but it shouldn't last long.

We are thinking of going for a week in the beginning of October (08) as well.
Hopefully the place is not too built up. Anyone been recently that have an opinion? Maybe there's somewhere nicer to stay this time of year?

Khao Lak is located about an hours drive north of Phuket airport.
When the tsunami of 2004 struck South Asia, Khao Lak was the hardest hit area in Thailand, with over 4000 fatalities. It has since made an impressive recovery, and is once again a popular tourist destination.
Khao Lak mainly caters to families and those looking for R&R. I noticed most of the tourists in the area were older German couples, with the odd younger family there with children. If you want to party it up, Khao Lak will dissapoint you with it's lack of nightlife.
Tap La Mu pier is located nearby, and is the departure point of many Similan Island liveaboard vessels.

Q:Cheap and cheeful Accommodation in Khao lak? "I am allowing myself most of a week in the south of Thailand and want to do some snorkelling, relaxing and swimming on a nice..."
A: "Just go out there and there are some guest houses around the city strip that are cheap (main road), but most activities are around the resorts. i just do not know how..."
