Khao Sok National Park is well prepared for tourists. Except for the high season (Dez-Jan) I think you will have no problems at all of finding an accomodation here. Most Hotels (or better Bungalows) are right outside the entrance of the Park, at the Sok River. Also this one. The Bamboo House Bungalows looked fairly new made. Set up on stelts of Concrete rather than Bamboo, the Bungalows are made of Wood. The construction seemed to "sway" at times, but only slightly. No need to be worried. Or?
You have Toilet/Shower and a Fan. They also have nice balconies with a view on the river. Price was 700 Baht per night. Right in front of the Bungalows the water is quiet and deep enough so one could take a bath in it. In walking distance is another swimming hole where you can find monkeys during the day. To the Hotel belongs also a small restaurant, shop and the possibility to hire guides for tours, trekkings, etc. Theme: MotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averagePhone: 077-395014

I am sorry for not saying where exactly this accomodation lies. In the south of Thailand, that is. The reason is, that I do not want this small gem being crowded by the mass tourism. But if you are interested, really interested, I may tell you if you mail me. You just have to be ready to have the accomodation somewhere a little out of the way (not much, but yes) and maybe pay a little more. (Say around 80 $ a day) But for that you get: A wonderful surrounding: lush green park like, the sea and beach with white sand directly in front of your bungalow. Only 5 Bungalows for 2 people each. Nobody else for a way. The bungalows with a wide bed, the bathroom half outside with walls that go only 3/4 to the roof, so you have the feeling of beeing out and shoowering like in a garden.
The restaurant offers excellent Thai food, In the morning a buffet that would shame a big hotel. Choose between 6 kinds of how to prepare your egg. real croissants (the owner is french, that says all), tea, coffee, bread, muesli, fresh fruit salad etc etc. You can have a romantic dinner prepared for you, directly under the stars at the beach. Make trips to other islands to go snorkeling or diving Make a cooking course for Thai dishes. Enjoy your time away from all the trouble ... but still close enough so you can go there, shopping, eating, viewing, whenever you want. Asia Hotel, Ranong by Myndo Ranong proofed to be not so easy for us to find an accomodation. Not that it would not have any. Ranong offers a lot of them, some unfortunately not in our price range, others in very loud places and the one I really would have loved to go was already full. But then we found the Asia Hotel. Although the exterior is nothing to sing about it is at a good location: one of the streets with markets and restaurants and is still quiet, because the rooms (or most of them) go out the back, away from the noise.
The rooms were clean, if a little basic. A room with toilet/shower and fan was 290 Baht per night. Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Ruang Rat Road, close to the Market

Rooms are available with fan or air-condition, some with satellite TV. So peaceful is it that you may not realize you are just 10 minutes walk from Lamai Village. by mflares The first time we stayed on Phi Phi we stayed at many different beach huts and guesthouses, we eventually found by accident one day Tropical Garden Bungalows at the end of a path. They had recently been built, on the side of the hill these wooden bamboo huts were fantastic, very basic but elegant, beds with nets, a fan and a shower room.. The staff were incredibly friendly, we often spent the evening out on the main seating section with the workers sharing drinks and playing the guitar. We stayed in these huts for about a month with no intention of moving on to find a better place. I would thoroughly recommend these huts to anybody, its about a 5 minute walk from the main part of the village, follow the path down to the view point and keep going, past the Harmony bungalows and you’ll see their sign.
Quiet, friendly staff, not too expensive. Very Thai style. Theme: OtherPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: follow the pathDirections: near the view point

D and D Inn is right in the centre of Khao san RD, we stayed in a room with a street front window was good. I wish every city had a street like this, all the entertainment is a step out of this hotel.
pool on the roof is good although the view/sun is constantly blocked out by smog!

I stayed at Aud Bungalow for two weeks, although I was meant to stay in Ko Tao for one week only. Shiny happy people run this few bungalows, which are simple but very comfy and clean. The restaurant is half on the beach and half in the water. They have a lovely area with futons and the best pancakes I've had in Thailand.
Service is a bit slow, but that's part of the atmosphere and whoever is going to attend your table will sit down with you for a chat whiilst taking the order. On the same beach, there is one of the main diving schools of Ko Tao. What more do you want from life? Theme: OtherPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: Ko TaoDirections: When you arrive to Ko Tao you'll see that everyone heads towards the left hand side of the peer. Let them go and turn right, walk till the end of the road to a lovely little bay. There you will find AUD BUNGALOW
