AUD BUNGALOWS: SOUTHERN THAILAND'S FRIENDLIEST BUNGALOWS
  • Satisfaction:
  • By Feds on September 30, 2003
  • I stayed at Aud Bungalow for two weeks, although I was meant to stay in Ko Tao for one week only.
Shiny happy people run this few bungalows, which are simple but very comfy and clean. The restaurant is half on the beach and half in the water. They have a lovely area with futons and the best pancakes I've had in Thailand.

Service is a bit slow, but that's part of the atmosphere and whoever is going to attend your table will sit down with you for a chat whiilst taking the order.
On the same beach, there is one of the main diving schools of Ko Tao.
What more do you want from life?

Central Samui Beach Resort: Beautiful but Pricey
  • Satisfaction:
  • By lindaloo76 on May 17, 2007
  • This hotel is huge and it confused me at first but I think that's cos my brain had stopped working from chilling out on a beach for a couple of weeks!

The staff were very friendly, the rooms were very clean and were very big. There were shutter doors that opened up between the bathroom and the bedroom and then overlooked the balcony which was lovely when you were in the bath although both me and my friend slipped getting into the bath on 2 separate occasions and nearly went through these doors!

The balcony was really big, there was a lovely view overlooking the gardens and then out to the beach.

My friends got married in this hotel and the staff couldn't have been nicer or treated them better than they did. Everything went perfectly on the day.

The only problem is the price of the hotel and the price of the food and drink as Thailand isn't meant to be that expensive, but then again, if you're staying here, you may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb!

The spa on the grounds is lovely, but is exceptionally pricey and if you leave the complex, you get the same treatment for 1/4 of the price.

The views out from the balcony were fantastic, the grounds are beautiful with lots of night time noise that you just don't get in rainy Ireland! :D

Hat Yang, Ko Phangan: Relaxing and Quiet Resort
  • Satisfaction:
  • By n_a_drescher on July 31, 2004
  • Tucked away in an inlet on the eastern coast of Ko Phangan is Hat Yang, which was one of the best swimming beaches I've been to.

The resort is very quiet and friendly, the owner even greets you, learns your name, and addresses you as such. There's a relaxing little restaurant overlooking the cove where people lounge on floor maps reading books, playing board games, chatting, and drinking, and everything is very laid back.

The accomodations, although only 250 baht a night, were less than perfect. They were infected with bugs and bed lice, and the power gets turned off at 1 am so you're on your own with the bugs. I ended up sleeping outside in the hammock where I ended up with a million mosquito bites, but it was better than mattress bugs.

What really made this place stand out, aside from the perfect beach and quaint restaurant, was the laid back atmosphere of both the guests and the staff.

Everyone spoke in hushed voices because no one wanted to disturb the tranquility of the place. It was overall very relaxing.

The Ko Phangan 'road' doesn't reach here, so it's only accessible by taxi boat.

Hilton Arcadia Resort: Phukets Best Hotel
  • Satisfaction:
  • Updated By elw1729 on December 25, 2008
  • We were in Phuket in November 2008. We were suppose to be there for 4 days, but due to a demonstration the airport in Bangkok was closed and we were there for 10 days.
Lucky for us we were at a beautiful resort the Arcadia Hilton Resort. This resort has 3 large pools,5 restaurants,a spa, healthclub, tennis courts etc. Besides all of this the rooms are very nice and beautifully decorated.

The best part of the stay was the attitude of the staff. They were wonderful to my wife and I. My wife has a bad leg and because of security you are dropped off at the perimeter of the resort and then shuttled by a jitney to the hotel. When I saw the height of the step to get on the jitney I knew that would present a problem for my wife. When I explained this to a staff member they called a golf cart to take us to the lobby. Although taxis are not permitted to pick guest up at the lobby, they made an exception for us. We did however order the same taxi each time so the guards would let him in when they checked the #on the taxi.

Lanta New Beach: Not really Paradise
  • Satisfaction:
  • By lizrox on October 22, 2008
  • Wouldn't recommend this resort, although rooms clean and good value, the staff just were so, well, strange. Funny looks/attitude from the receptionists, a resounding 'no' to most of our requests (including coca cola, Orange juice, money changing, etc...), everything was broken, the food was questionable.... on first glance it seemed like paradise but after a couple of days we checked out. Shame.

Beautiful sea view. nice pool area. Rooms decent.

Majestic Creek Hotel: Home Away from home
  • Satisfaction:
  • Updated By song4joy2 on November 27, 2004
  • This is a wonderful hotel that is family run and makes you feel like you've never left home. Some of the rooms are suites with full bedroom and separate dining area. I have stayed here twice and loved it both times. They offer a daily breakfast buffet that changes slightly every day, so you never get bored. The best coffee ever, too!! The staff are by far some of the friendlist you will ever meet. Each year their English speaking skills get better and they try so hard to make you happy you wish you could take them home with you. My favorite part of this hotel and Thailand is the beach that it lies on. Very private and quiet, you can walk for a long ways, pick shells, watch the fishermen or just swim in the friendly surf. Whenever I'm having a bad day I visualize myself back on this beach in Thailand.

The restaurant is small enough that you feel like you are part of a large family. In the evening you look out at the ships that guards the king's palace, they light up the ships. Sometimes you can watch the clam diggers in the evening too. Can't forget Tom the piano player who serenades you first in the lobby next to the bar and later moves out onto an outside stage under the stars for dining and dancing. So romantic and yet unbelievably reasonable - the hotel accommodation prices are great and so is the food!!
