Beach Breeze Guesthouse: Great guesthouse with wonderful owner

by tvdandy

This is a nice and cozy guesthouse right in central Kata, very close to the beach and is in the heart of the town center. Stephen, the owner is a great guy who will go out of his way to make your stay as wonderful as possible. He will even give you beach towels if you are short for a day by the sea. The rooms are basic and there is no room safe, so this is a consideration. It is a good bargin for the great location. The Ship Inn is part of the establishment, which serves wonderful food and is a good place to chat with the expat's while having a Chang beer.

Koh Lanta is very laid back but for a very quiet paradise try Koh Ngai or Koh Bulon Leh (Marina bungalows are amaizing).

Phi Phi Relax Beach Resort: Stress Beach Resort

by tranquilityacres

Other than this one experience, our trip to Thailand was totally awsome! Relax Beach Resort was really Stress Beach Resort! We had our prepaid reservations for this resort made 6 weeks in advanced. We had read all the reviews and spent a lot of time choosing this resort and this is where we wanted to be. We had carefully read the web site requirements. We saw nothing about not bringing food. We eagerly anticipated this beautiful place. The time finally arrived for us to be at “paradise”. We arrived at the resort by long tail boat. (It costs about $4-5 USD per person to get there.) Because we are vegetarians and also do not like to purchase food on our Sabbath, we brought some food and a water filter along. We had 9 people (teenage boys eat a lot) and we didn’t want to be totally dependant on the resort for food and water so far away from competition. We expected to eat some of their food. The resort manager was immediately cold and curt when he saw our food )maybe partly because we didn't use his boat to get there?). He said he would charge us double for our rooms if he found ANY food in them. He explained that they have problems with ants and monkeys. We were patient and told him we were happy to put the food wherever he said. At first he told us we could keep it in their kitchen but then he changed his mind and said “NO”. He seemed more angry the longer he thought about it. We offered to just give them the food but he rudely told us he didn’t want our food. Finally he told us to just leave the resort. We had already settled in our rooms. He demanded that we get our stuff and get out. We tried to reason gently with this difficult man but to no avail. We obeyed and moved our stuff down to the beach again. We asked him if he would provide free transportation (he had three resort boats sitting there) back to the main port since it was his idea that we leave. He refused. Fortunately we had two cell phones and were able to call for a boat to come get us. We had to pay the going rate to get out of there. While we were waiting for the boat to come get us, this manager came down to where we were sitting with our stuff and ordered us off his property. We told him a boat was coming soon and that we would be off his property soon. Providentially, a nice tour guide on the ferry, had given us his phone number. We called this man and he helped us get a few cabins on the bay and we had a lovely weekend despite the difficult Relax Beach Resort manager experience. I learned that the sooner you forgive and forget the evil of the past the sooner you can enjoy the blessings and joys of the present and the future. My 17 year old daughter said “Mom, when we arrived at the Relax Beach Resort, I thought it was the most beautiful place on the earth but after I heard the manager talk, I realized that the people at a place are what really make it beautiful!” Our new bit of wisdom is: “The beauty of paradise is the people not the place!” I shared with my daughter that the reason Jesus is helping us change on the inside is that Heaven would not be very nice if selfish, rude, and unkind people get there!

Quiet and secluded

Imperial Samui Beach Resort: Great Location and Beautiful Resort

by Greg&DottyDallas

Wonderful breakfast included in room price, very reasonable prices for a four to five star resort. The grounds are immaculate and the rooms are very clean and spacious. Very comfortable beds and spectacular views. Service was exceptional and the staff goes out of their way to accomodate every need their guests might have. Transportation of any kind is available from the lobby.

The flowers and trees are gorgeous! The ponds and fountains are crystal clear and the beach is perfect! The seafood dinner on the beach is a must! The huge salt water pool overlooking the ocean is so relaxing and the large fresh water pool is peaceful and quiet. Massage & manicure/pedicure services on ther beach are a wonderful treat. This scenic resort offers Mediterranean style architecture nestled in the hillside with landscaped gardens tumbling to the serene beach.

Phukhaolak Resort: Southern Thailand beaches

by bulldogtwo

We think some of the best beaches in Thailand are along the Andaman coast, from Phuket north to Ranong. We love Khao Lak beaches. There are not as many tourists, depending on where you stay, and the town is a quiet small peaceful place, again with few tourists and a few quiet bars. Khao Lak is easy access to some really nice national parks as well. We spent several days on a beach where we were the only ones for miles, virtually isolated. Check out the neaches along Haad Thaimuang.

While in Khao Lak we stayed at the Phukhaolak resort. No TV or radio, but had to be one of the best places we have stayed at in Thailand, and very reasonable rates. Run by a nice family and they have their own restaurant, a resturant that others from other hotels frequent every night. The AC bungalows are the best.
Check out my homepage for some pics
Have fun

Nature Resort tree houses: Khao Sok Accomodations

by bulldogtwo

Khao Sok is a great national park. We don't do tour companies, we'd rather just do the trip ourselves as it is just as easy. There is a good tree house lodge, you can see pics on my homepage. It is called Nature Resort. As you come down the hill towards the national park you have to take a left hand turn to get to the park itself, take the next left and the Nature Resort is located on the left at the end of the road. They also have a great restuarant. Not taking a left to Nature Resort will take you to the lake and the floating lodges. Natyre resort also is located on the river and they have a ropeswing that is a blast and very refreshing. No leeches. But the monkeys do come down along the river in th early eve. Satying in the tree house you can also hear them going through the trees in the morning as well as the tropical birds, sometimes parrots.

As far as wildlife that will eat you, no. The only thing you should really have to worry about is mosquitos. IF you go during the rainy season, yeah, you could encounter the leeches. Carry some insect repellant to squirt on them and they'll drop off if they attach themselves to you. You won't feel anything, and yeah, they can be gross for those squemish folks, but they are'nt bad. Once they have had enough they drop off. They don't eat you up. I should also say that leeches can really be found anytime of the year, but more encounters during the rainy season. Having said all that, if you are going to worry about all that, well, just don't. Taking in the park is well worth all encounters with leeches or any other wildlife. As I said, you'll be more worried about mosquitos than anything else.
HAVE FUN!

Hilton Arcadia Resort: Phukets Best Hotel

by elw1729

We were in Phuket in November 2008. We were suppose to be there for 4 days, but due to a demonstration the airport in Bangkok was closed and we were there for 10 days.
Lucky for us we were at a beautiful resort the Arcadia Hilton Resort. This resort has 3 large pools,5 restaurants,a spa, healthclub, tennis courts etc. Besides all of this the rooms are very nice and beautifully decorated.

The best part of the stay was the attitude of the staff. They were wonderful to my wife and I. My wife has a bad leg and because of security you are dropped off at the perimeter of the resort and then shuttled by a jitney to the hotel. When I saw the height of the step to get on the jitney I knew that would present a problem for my wife. When I explained this to a staff member they called a golf cart to take us to the lobby. Although taxis are not permitted to pick guest up at the lobby, they made an exception for us. We did however order the same taxi each time so the guards would let him in when they checked the #on the taxi.
