Nice Beach

by 1fin

I am wondering if anyone knows if there was any destruction or victims at the Nice Beach bunglows and if there was any destruction to the feeling bar ( i forget what beach it was on) and if anyone knows a man by the name Chi that works there. He also works at a diving shop in town near the pier. My heart goes out to all the victims but i can't wait until I return to ko Lanta it has been the best place I have been to.

Thanks for any info.
Cheers!

Re: Feeling

I can't really tell you what exactly happened at the nice beach bungalows. but they are open for sure. I drove by yesterday. I can't imagine that anybody got severly hurt. They're built up high. The wave didn't hit Lanta that bad.
I stay at the Where Else on Klong Khong beach. The resort of the feeling bar. I worked in that bar this year. now it's gone. the whole beach front is gone. after cleaning we now have rebuilt almost everything and are now waiting for guests.
With Chai i partied a bit yesterday. He is 100% ok. The dive boat goes out. Dive shops are open, underwater conditions miraculously better than ever.

I have just come back from Ko Lanta and I stayed at Nice Beach. Everything is up and running again and the resort was almost full! Pat is still at the bar (Nice Beach) and we had a few parties while we were there. Loved it and vow to go back soon.

Travel Tips for Ko Lanta

Muslims

by beaniezotzim

This is just an FYI tip.

Ko Lanta has quite a few Muslims here. Muslims do not drink so when eating at a lot of the restaurants, you cannot order a beer etc. You can only get alcohol from the bars, and the bars don't usually open until later on.

TATTOOS ALL AROUND-FOR THE TRIO

by mamasan69

After talking with my brother and cousin for the first three weeks about getting tattoos, we finally broke down and all got one in Koh Lanta.
The process that lead up to the actual tattoo involved quite a few Chang(beer) and then deciding where to get it on our bodies. The tattoos were done at a place called Bamboo Tattoo, which was located next to the Lanta Sunny House. The tattoo shop is run by four brothers, who also own the bar which its located on.
My cousin was the first one to go after deciding on a wizard/moon design. He was in for about 11/2-2 hoursand his tattoo cost 3500bht. It was my turn next and after choosing what I wanted, it was time for the start of 3 hours of tattooing. The good part about it was that the needle started to dull about halfway, this gave me a chance to enjoy another Chang and then get back to business. By the time it was done my arm was asleep from the position I had to hold it, and I was 4500bht poorer. During the same time that I was in the shop, my brother snuck in and got his small tattoo done within an hour. His choice was the symbol of the Year of the Dragon, and he got it on his wrist(1500bht).
I would highly recommend this place to anyone that is interested in getting a tattoo done while they are in Thailand. There are a number of reasons for this, first they are very skilled and dedicated to doing a good job. The next day the brother that did my cousins tattoo, was getting a new one done by the guy that did mine. Second reason is that they do tattoos the traditional way, with a bamboo stick/needle, no machines. There is little pain and no bleeding and a person is able to swim again a day later. If you do get one keep it out of the sun (sunburn) and keep it lubed up with vasoline for about 10 days. This will keep it from fading and help heal it up.
I will go back to these guys again as they were very careful and excellent artists. My cousin even got a free touchup done to his the next day, no problem.*

VT days in Ko Lanta!

so great to meet my pommy mate phil! i met phil back in 2003, here in perth. my first ever real organised vt meeting at the time. a few years on and we are still good mates.

jen's in the middle trying to be modest. pffft! ;-)

girls gone wild... we are trying to do our sexy poses for the boys of the sausage crew, but sadly, i just look retarded. at least jen looks kinda sexy lar!

looool kay decides to go for a thai massage, and i snuck up and caught the moment where the lady puts her hand on her butt! kay enjoyed herself immensely... as much as elton john on his wedding night! ;-)

darling mei leng sitting on a beach chair, taking in the views. this girl was very quiet and well behaved, the perfect angel! :-p

myself, sunburnt and tanning, with phil, looking as british as ever! phil's been living in thailand for 2 years, so his insights into thai life were greatly appreciated, and very different to what the tour guides tell you!
